Today we address and issue that plagues many Veloster Turbo owners. We remove the stock air filter box which contains a door that can cause throttle surging, and replace it with a simple cone air filter element to help the car breathe a bit better and give you better throttle response and more thrills!

Man I’m new at watching your vids and a new veloster owner and your vids have really helped me thanks and I just did this mod an it’s awesome
  • I put one of these spectre short rams on my 2012 NAV and noticed a lot my power response and car wasn’t so jerky after letting off the throttle at low speeds. Really woke up my car and I don’t mind the sound at all actually think it’s kinda cool! Great video!

I found the exact same results. Made everything very smooth and once the ecu compensated after a couple weeks, I didn't notice any losses of those gains at all. Great video!

We did this mod and loved it until I built a home brew 3.5 intake. Great little simple DIY mod. Good work as always Chay!

the intake hose on the other side is an intake resonator. It helps keep the sound down from the snorkel and air going into the stock air box.

Awesome bro. That will be my next mod , after the amber deletes of course lol
  • anybody watching this with a turbo car that wants to put a cone filter on, if just for the noise. go ahead and do it. it's not going to do anything to your engine nor will you lose any power at all. "heat soak" does not matter at all since your air all goes past the intercooler anyway. we dont have naturally aspirated cars....THEN it would matter with heat soak. we have turbo cars...which has an internal intercooler that already cools the air down. heat soak doesnt matter. so go ahead..have some fun :)

I had the k&n typhoon intake and then went to 3.5 inch 6th element intake and won't ever go back. I love my intake. Also disconnecting the negative battery cable will help the ecu learn quicker.

Just installed a cone in my 2013. Serious loss of power under load... Hoping the ECU corrects this. Otherwise, I think I'll put the stock intake back on. Love the sound though!!

WOW...I kinda underestimated how loud this would be 😅

Really depends on the car. A car that is NA.. or not boosted, an intake or even a cone filter, could add a small bit of power.. but on a boosted car, such as turbo or supercharged.. you wont see any gains. I have seen dyno results in videos that back that up. I replaced the intake with a complete intake.. When I got my Veloster Turbo, whoever had it before me.. took the door out and used a compound of some kind to close it off. I mean.. Spectre is owned by K&N.. so it is quite good quality

How did you get that pipe to fit the stock intake hose? I am having trouble putting it on. It’s like it’s the same exact diameter so it just clashes on the edges.
  • @niikpakpo01
Hi. What size is the pipe and have you got a link for it? Cheers buddy. 👍🏿
  • @mrhawk1924
My is rig to open partially .. it drives great... and got a K$N performance filter

Do you need to tune for this im new to the VT scene with my 2015. I took off my muffler and started to receive engine problems and my mechanic said it was because I didnt tune it for that.

I just got my BOV from TurboXS and I absolutely love it! I have an open cone filter as too but mine is from K&N. Do you hear the BOV alll the time with the filter? Any time I'm accelerating, I hear the sucking sound and under any throttle, it's noticeable. Just wanting to make sure that's normal
