I think that the only way to truly enjoy handheld pc gaming is with a windows based device. Luckily I had the chance to compare two of the greatest devices that meet that criteria, the Lenovo Legion Go and the Asus ROG Ally. After spending some time with both devices I have to make a decision as to which one I am going to keep as my main gaming handheld pc. In this video I go over my favorite things with each of the consoles and my not so favorite things as well.

Great video! I already ordered the Legion GO this past week before I saw this video, so it should arrive within the next few days - but seems I may have chosen correctly. Thanks for clear info!
  • One of the best vids i've seen about handhelds, you definitely deserved my subscription

great video and channel mate :) just took the plunge on a GO, already own an ally and sold me steam deck once i used the ally once hahaha. The ally is what it says on the tin, its a gaming handheld for gamers, the audio is stunning and the VRR 120hz screen is just soooo smooooooth to use, and i do actually really like the analogue sticks, it was/is also much easier to get up and running...... it does however run hotter than hell, i fitted a heatsink to mine and now all is well but its a lil heavier. the GO was much harder to like, but is more versatile. its a damn good media tablet that plays games, and i love the controller options. the 144hz screen is just stunning and the extra real estate from the 16:10 aspect ratio is welcome. the speakers can be tweeked via realtek app to give decent output but not as good as ally/deck. Even though its heavier than the ally, i find them both to be uncomfortable after a long gaming session, id actually say the GO was slightly more comfortable to me even with my small hands I find the ally to be a much better gaming experience, but can i fuuuuuq put the GO down hahahahahahaa..... but when i do go back to the ally im like... WOW! the plan was to sell the unit i least like, but i like them both too much for different reasons so im keeping them for now hahahaha. which ever one people choose ya wont be disappointed, its a dead heat in a pi55ing contest!

I actually like that you didn’t just sit there talking about tech stats. Those numbers mean nothing to us average consumers. I subscribed!

I am thinking of getting a go. Your post is helpful... thanks
  • Which device would you recommend for someone who just wants a handheld to play/emulate older games, and mod those older games too? like PS1,PS2,PS3 and maybe a few PS4 games from before 2016. I don't have any interest in newer games and Im mostly going to play docked so battery life is not much of a concern. What do you think?

I've had the legion go for about a month now and I love it. I used fx sound app to improve the speakers and have no complaints. I also don't mind the weight it feels like a solid well made premium device not a cheap plastic toy. I'm sticking with the legion go.

Did you get the ally or the ally z1 extreme? That makes all the difference.

Thank you for the video it was informative for the generic consumer. However it would be more appreciated if you reduce the volume of the background music, it is almost as loud as your voice which can be distracting but in addition to the noise the mic picks up it becomes an unpleasant experience and honestly after 7 minutes it became difficult to push till the end, I guess at least the volume compression on the two devices was a needed break. No I don't mind the mic not having a crisp and clean recording I just honestly feel it'll be a better experience if the background music was lower, I know lots of small channels struggle with the balance too. These are just my thoughts do with that information what you will and best of luck.

I wish i have seen your video like 20 days ago. Cuz i watched sooo many videos to decide and your review sums them all in one. Great work. I also decided to get GO. Thanks man.
  • Great vid! In your opinion, with the new ROG Ally X coming out, would you still choose the Legion Go? Would be great to hear your thoughts!
  • @loitersquadX
I want the legion go but its hard to play on a screen with no vrr. :(
  • @markmark1325
I love my legion go. Not really bothered by the sound from the fan and the weight. It is actually faster than my 9th gen intel desktop.
  • @yusifr1
Vrr is the deal breaker for my so i went with the ally, good vid though i liked it.
  • Lovely video bro. You actually comapred both in details. But...... I prefer the Ally its just the perfect fit. I own both so i know.

I've been using Legion Go for a while. And I'm loving it for portable, not only game, but also PC. With additional portable keyboard I used it to code on cafe. I can even debug on bus/subway train with only touchscreen keyboard.
  • @ViRiXDreamcore
I really like the practicality of this. I think I’ll go Ally. Mainly using it docked and it’s cheaper.
  • @user-pb6ps2mb4y
I've bought legion go and I'm looking forward to getting it this Sunday. But if it's with the Z1 processor, it'll go back to its vendor)))
