Oh man, the midichlorians detail is huge. I never understood why that was so controversial but a lot of people think that the force was supposed to be this mysterious thing.

He originally planned the Emperor to be just a figure head being controlled by militant general, parallel to the warring states of ancient Japan before the Meiji Restoration.

"The story was always about the father and the twins. But the father and General Vader weren't the same person" Lucas, paraphrased, a long time ago in a state far far away.
  • Tagging on to your point about Vader, not only that, but Lucas also said that Vader got his injuries by falling into a volcanic pit way back in 1977
  • I wonder if Artoo could've save Threepio's memory on a drive somewhere and integrate it later.
  • Why is the last chapter titled "Medoran Allowed Jabba To Use The Force" Lmao

Where can you find the notes for the original backstories of the characters and factions? I’d love to read the rest of them.

The novel for episode 4 states clearly that C-3PO knew that he and R2-D2 had been together for a long time and thought that they had been through many memory wipes. That means that this was always there. It was after seeing the prequels and the line about wiping 3PO it made some of the things R2 did make sense. He knew what farm they were on, and hoped that Luke would go looking for him so he could get Luke and Obi-Wan together without Owen and Beru knowing. Chewbacca is another one. He knew who Luke was talking about when he said Yoda. But the big thing with him is shooting Ben Solo after Han died. Just think about all the pain and resentment he had against the Skywalkers. At this point he knew that Vader was Anakin.

The empire did not overthrow the republic. The senate voted to give all power to Palatine, making him an emperor. The empire replaced the republic thru democratic vote.

Tell me the tale of how the sith had risen to power please dad . There was a loop hole In the federation law son .

The Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader part wasn't planned. You can tell that in the original Star Wars, Obi-Wan called Vader "Darth". Never again was Vader addressed as "Darth" ever again in any to the sequels or prequels.

And this is why I always respected George Lucas. I love the Prequels and the Originals equally. To me the sequels are not Canon. I only count the Prequels and Originals as Canon. In George Lucas vision I trust.

Somewhere in about 1983 or 4, I had in my hands something that purported to be a samizdat copy of a 3 page synopsis of ALL 9 STAR WARS movies. 4 was perfect, of course, 5 was in keeping with what we were hearing, and IIRC it lasted as long as the release of sith... I mean 6. And that was close enough to make me believe. Sadly I'm not enough of a fan to still have a copy, and that roommate says he doesn't either.

He made sure no other writer touched the Clone Wars for a very long time.

This video is hard to believe when Lucas didn’t know he was going to make Luke and leia siblings until return of the jedi
