Being in the sim racing community around those early days sounds like it must have been so cool. Wish I was a part of it instead of being busy with being like 2 years old

One of the OGs. Also one of the smartest guys I’ve met. Him winning that Fontana race was epic.

I still cant get over what we play right now is just a very fancy NR2003.
  • I love these sim racing stories. people always say you're just behind a makeshift steering wheel in front of a computer, but the racing and the emotions are absolutely real!

“Drivers before then”…I built my own wheel controller in 1995 with a kid’s toy and a radio shack potentiometer. I wanted to see if having a wheel helped before I bought a “state of the art” wheel with bungee cords inside it for feedback. There was some F1 game out, but I spent most of my time in Sports Car GT

These are the most entertaining videos about a sim. This channel made me start playing and I just got my 5th win in formula and now in d class, I’ve been playing for 2 weeks

I love seeing that old Steel Horse Racing Screen Print Dept truck with Bart Simpson on the back! I painted that truck! 🤣Bob and I were teammates for so many years, and I was always in awe of the things he could do behind the wheel. He talks a lot about race craft, and I regard Bob as the GOAT in that department. Great video!

As someone that still plays in NR2003 leagues, I love learning about DMP & the guys that started there. Great video in general

One year a guy named Brian started releasing some modded tracks where the grip up top was a lot more, DaleJr liked that so the DMP server would run them a lot. So the modded dega was called TalladegaBR. B for Brian. Anyway this somehow got to Mike Joy but he didn’t understand it completely, and he brought it up in an interview with Truex I think and asked him about ‘the video game you’ve been training on, TalladegaVR’, and that’s the story of the biggest nr2003 cringe of all time.

Nice video, love learning about the sim racing legends. Kevin King was in my A fixed race last night. Never knew he'd been sim racing for so long.
  • @kgsimracing
From a YouTube channel, to a full on documentary…. Awesome job! The interviews, the research, the b-roll footage…it’s hard not to be entertained with everything you’re putting out. Now you’re releasing movies lol…..Amazing work!
  • It's important you're preserving and highlighting stories like this that may otherwise be lost to time! Love it and thanks for all the track guides and laughs over the years. Huge fan!

I think the younger folk in the comments should know that today is a good era, just because those early 2000s PCs cost like $4000, in 2000 money, and the monitors were just as bad. Now? I'd say $800 worth of PC will get you on track and winning, then you can spend the rest on monitors and wheels and stuff. Your car looks like a car, not like a crumpled Doritos bag with wheels. It is a good day to be a sim racer.
  • I'd love to see a Vid on Charles C. Wooton, the zero iRating master.
  • @smoke14wins
The team I am on competed against bob, and I promise you he was highly respected and watched every week by our team. We were just talking about him 5-6hrs ago today lol
  • @Traas24
As someone who got into sim racing this year, these videos are a great look into what I missed and makes me wish I started racing earlier!
  • @Sasser2015
As someone who has always enjoyed racing video games, but knows little about the competitive sim-racing scene, this vid was a really cool glimpse into that world. Bob seems like a likable guy...... glad he saw some success.
  • Wow it's amazing how Kyle Larson saying that thing we all know he said, affected this timeline. I always wondered what if none of that happened and he ended up in SHR or staying with Ganassi like Chastain when they transitioned to Trackhouse 🤔
  • Pretty cool, met Bob back when we were racing at OnlineRacing back in the day. I painted him up a car when NR2003 came out, a Red and White CompUSA Monte Carlo. Glad to see one of the group do well in sim racing!
