I wish you had filmed this before I installed mine Andrew! Lol! Great job explaining the equipment and installation sir. I hope it gives you two a little extra piece of mind. Take care!

In the military we used the term “harden target” this gate will definitely help with that approach. Even if it is able to be defeated or bypassed most average criminals will move on in search of an easier victim. Pretty cool build!

Every one of your DIY projects have been off the charts, you explain everything better than a instructional video from the company would. But that being said, we appreciate your videos God bless. See you Sunday 😀

Wow, such a thorough walk through about how to install this amazing system! Thanks so much for going to the time and trouble to put this together and share it. This is exactly the kind of gate system we were looking for!

I just enjoy watching you work. You would have made an excellent teacher. No, step was left out. Thank you, for making an old lady happy.
  • Love my Ghost openers. Ours have been going strong for a few years. I will say you may be to buy different batteries. Unless they have switched brands, the batteries they send are pretty cheap and have a short life.

One thing for certain, anyone with two brain cells will know with the gate and controls that there's MORE down the line and will not even bother to step a foot on the property. This was fascinating! and looks so easy, and now I completely understand the 'drag' you mentioned from a wheel. Thanks Andrew!

Hello Andrew and Ruger without Ruger this could not of been done!!! WOW!!! Andrew it is ridiculous how humans have turned to crime one excuse after the other. I agree you have to protect what is yours. I have never installed one of these but if I had to say in my opinion no help needed just measure twice and make sure you observe really well or take pictures along the way and refer if you have something that needs further adjustments. Mr. Doug it is so great of you to do this for Andrew and Tiffany you have got to be one of the neighbors of the world that people look up to and thank you sir!! Thank you Andrew this was a fascinating install entirely perfect to me. Ed in Partlow Virgina.

Couple suggestions. Make you a backer board for the control boxes. Makes them sturdier, harder to tamper with, protects from UV. Get you a DC to DC buck converter to hardwire the keypad to the 12v batteries. Consider adding a switch to the vehicle sensor so you can turn it off while mowing or doing other work in the area, leaving on vacation, in case it shorts out etc. As far as people breaking in, that pin holding the opener to the post makes it a 5 second job to break in. I have tools in every vehicle so I personally would replace it with a bolt and nut. I do see why most people wouldn't though and I totally agree with leaving it with the pin. Ambulances for instance.

Pretty straightforward. You are a great teacher. I would eventually put a cement pad down, get a metal box and lag bolt it down to the pad for your packages.

Andrew, even if I never have the occasion to actually install something you have covered with any video, I really enjoy watching. Plus, one little part of knowledge and practical application can be useful. Thanks for sharing everything you do. Cheers.

Tip, ours bounced when locking too and I added a piece of rubber on my lock so it helps buffet the slam as hard when locking.
  • @user-ox1rp5jk9g
Andrew, like Daddy always said a lock is only to keep an honest man honest. also I have the mighty mule and had to replace the batteries every 2 years. I went with a 100 amp hour lifePO4 in a battery box, (had to get a liFEPO4 charger) added a 20 watt panel to the 20 watt that came with it and have not had any issues with the gate not opening because of power. we just had a real cold snap of below freezing temps. one night -3 in TN and the gate still opened and closed as needed. if the mighty mule goes out will be replacing with ghost. thank you for taking time to do these videos for us.
