Had a Snoopy and a Donkey Kong Jr. My dad, an electronic hacker, tired of paying for not so cheap batteries, "modded" the devices, so they would run on regular AA batteries, and would last far longer than the original. He also hacked the gameboy night light accessory, so both the console and the light would run on only one charger.

Those crystal screen handhelds look so cool, and many companies (especially Hasbro) would release many toys over the years using a similar concept, like with "Pixel Chix".

Have also often thought that a complete Game & Watch Collection on the Switch would be pretty awesome, itโ€™ll probably never happen but it would be pretty amazing if it did!

I was born in 1976 so these were a staple of my childhood. Donkey Kong, Mickey and Donald, Zelda and Rain Shower were some of my favourites. But it was Donkey Kong II that I really loved and mastered.

So the game and watch is actually my favorite console of all time and I don't know why, I'm so glad you've done a video on it. Thanks
  • This was incredibly comprehensive. I love my Donkey Kong G&W. Love to see one of these on Tiger games.

3:35 first handheld gaming device ever made? Mattel Electronics and Coleco rivalry started with the handheld electronic games of the 1970s.

Another thing you forgot to mention about the Nintendo table tops games is that even though they ran on two C batterys the battery life on those table tops lasted for 3 years! ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ‘
  • Rob, the content youโ€™re adding to this channel is absolutely wonderful. Perfect blend of nostalgia and interesting information - look forward to seeing your next video!

Snoopy tennis. I spent hours on that lol. Still about in the loft I expect.
  • Loved EVERY minute of this video. I used to play a lot of these back in the day and still have them. Donkey Kong was probably my favorite.

I owned the orange, 2 screen Donkey Kong as a kid. I remember being able to reset the score by going over the highest possible displayed total.
