Hey Chris, Before my strokes I was a machinist for GE’s locomotive engine plant in Grove City Pa. The biggest enemy of any cutting tool is heat caused by friction. In metal working a liquid coolant is used. As well as a coating of some sort. ( coding type depends on application of the bit.) So the coating helps reduce the heat the bit absorbs. Just thought you might find it interesting. 👍🏻😃
