  • The Muhle R89 has to be one of the finest DE razors made. Of the six razors I own, it and a Feather AS D2 are my favorites. Thanks, Geo, for helping men around the world to return such a pleasing and rewarding ritual that was almost forgotten. Shaving before with plastic, throw-away multi-blade razors was a chore but now, shaving is something more like meditation. Very calming and soothing.

The Mühle R89 was my first "nice" DE razor after starting out with the Wilkinson Classic plastic razor. It is very mild but after revisiting it after neglecting it for some time I just fell in love with it again.

Went to a local store in Ludwigshafen, Germany yesterday with the determination to buy a Merkur 34c. I asked if I could have a look at the Merkur. After looking at the 34c, I asked for the Mühle R89, which would have been my second choice. What can I say, I went for the Mühle after all. It just felt better in my hands. Shaves really good!!

I've used quite a few different razors over the past few years but I always go back to my 34C as my daily driver. All three of these are fantastic razors for people looking to get into wet shaving.
  • Received my Mulhe R89 razor and blades yesterday after a Sunday order. Quick delivery! First shave this morning! Nice and smooth after two passes.
  • @davidstern3031
I got started with a Merkur 34C, I still use and love that razor!
  • @divad44
i shave my head and face every single day. i've been using cartridge razors for little over a decade now and i cant tell you how expensive and tedious it is.... just bought the merkur 34c, box of 100 personna de razors, praraso cream, lather bowl, badger brush, and some towels. CANNOT WAIT to begin this journey!
  • @vasilis9623
greetings from Greece gents! I will buy my first razon soon!
  • @matt2456
I absolutely agree-number one is Merkur 34C HD!
  • Great video, really informative, I really appreciate that you spoke about the durability of the different razors. My old butterfly razor lost it's screw when I dropped it, and I've been looking for a replacement that's more durable.

Geofatboy: A huge huge thank you. Thank you for putting this video out to give us some simple information on what razors you'd recommend to start out with Wet Shaving. The video took some stress out on what razor I'm going to get in the near future. Made my choice easier. I'd like to suggest that a complete update video be made on what products are available to use on wet shaving: what are beginner razor blades to start with, what are mild and aggressive razor blades, plus an idea of what costs are associated with blades. Shaving brushes, what is boar, badger and even synthetic brushes, differences and prices. And finally soaps, pucks, or sticks of shaving creams available plus what you'd recommend and their prices. There's so much (an overload of) information and products its very confusing to know what's what and its price association. For Someone like me, a video like this will help tremendously and eliminate confusion, stress when figuring out what to get when starting wet shaving. It may be a long video, but it would help out more than you know to myself and others.. The simpler the info and explanation of it would be of great great use. I hope this video can be done and hopefully it would bring some business to ShaveNation.Com! Thank You!👍👍
  • Thank you Geo for getting me into DE shaving! You have opened my eyes and I'll never go back to "the other way". I'm still training my ninja moves on the 34C as per your recommendation and strive to become a DE samurai like yourself in time.
  • My first razor was the DE89L. Owned for 6 years and finally dropped it and broke the threads on the head. Loved shaving with it. Already ordered the Merkur 34HD as a replacement. Looking forward to trying it out. Great video BTW. Thanks.
  • @mikeh9701
Hi Geo- Solid choices, all-around! I started with the 34HD, as well! Take good care and best regards, as always!
  • Great video, love your content and your shaving supplies I buy from you all the time
  • @WSF176
R89 Grande was my first razor and my eternal love lol. It’s just awesome. I put it aside while I went thru and experimented with other new razors and when I came back to it, I realize just how amazing it is. I absolutely love it. Works perfectly with many types of blades and will last 5 lifetimes.
  • @Shaverboy516
Solid choices Geo! Can’t go wrong with any of those razors:)
  • @snowecat6930
Thanks Geo for another very good video and pro advice. Please keep it going. Regards from Tel Aviv ))
