During the height of ZZ Top's success in the early 1980s a digitally remixed version of the recording was released on CD and the original 1973 mix version was discontinued. The remix version created controversy among fans because it significantly changed the sound of the instruments, especially drums. The remix version was used on all early CD copies and was the only version available for over 20 years. A remastered and expanded edition of the album was released on February 28, 2006, which contains three bonus live tracks. The 2006 edition is the first CD version to use Manning's original 1973 mix (Wikipedia). Unfortunately, it's hard to find this version these days....I have an early CD and I prefer this version of of Waitin' For the Bus/Jesus Just Left Chicago.

I was in Udon Thailand - we got the album from the BX...had a bit of Thai Stick and cranked this on. The transition to Jesus Just Left Chicago..wow!

Thanks for posting the info and the songs. These guys were my FIRST concert touring on this album (Rush opened for them). Still got the ticket stub; $5.50 and free parking. Yep, I'm THAT old.

Saw them at a place called the Horizon just outside of Chicago. After the Black Crows finished their set I was taken up to the Front Row a few feet from the stage. How lucky can one man be.

I was sitting in a hooch in SEA and a friend opened the album and played it - 72 or 73. When this song came on - nice transition - the whole platoon jumped up and started dancing around.
