  • When you watch this in its entirety what you are witnessing is two men saying "I love you" and "goodbye"... Very deep

"Enjoy Every Sandwich"... When I first heard him say that it brought tears to my eyes and that simple philosophy changed my life forever. I'm in my 50's and have health problems of my own. Warren Zevon's simple, matter of fact handling of his own demise gave me strength. What a wonderful talent and a wonderful man. He IS already missed by those he touched...

"it was a tactical error on my part for not seeing a doctor for 20 years"... lol. To know that your time is short and still be able crack jokes, its awesome. It makes you appreciate things a lot more. RIP Warren Zevon... I'd like to meet his taylor.
  • If you haven't heard it yet, listen to Zevon's cover of "knocking on heavens door", written and performed so bravely when he knew that his time was coming to an end, and may I say it is the greatest cover of the song there is. Zevon is the most underappreciated artist, and the greatest in my opinion.
  • "This guy's the real deal.... he's not one of these pretty faced, phony rock and roll guys, he's the real deal..... a poet and a singer and a song writer..... it  doesn't get any better" Well said, David Letterman.

I got to see him 2 years before he was diagnosed. I remember being impressed that you could actually hear the lyrics. He was very engaged with the audience taking requests and answering questions. During one of the breaks and after the show you could see him walking around the club. You could literally walk right up to him --very approachable. At the time I remember leaving the show very happy and impressed, thinking to myself that was one of the best shows I've ever seen.

It is a true Injustice that this amazing song writer and musician is not in the Rock and Roll hall of fame.a pity.

Warren Zevon rocks!!!!!!!!!! Great singer/songwriter/musician. I love his album The Wind that he made while he was dying. I can tell Warren was scared facing death but I'm glad he got to do the last things in his life he wanted to do. He's at peace right now. RIP Warren, we miss you man!! One of Letterman's best shows ever!!!

7:51 "You're reminded to enjoy every sandwich." Damn that hit hard. I lost my pops within 3 months of his diagnosis of lung cancer. Cherish every moment with the ones you love.

This is a perfect example of the greatness of Letterman.
  • My wife Lili and I were privileged to see this man live in Milwaukee back in 2000.  We got there early, and were leaning against the stage, dead-center.  It ranks in my top-five concerts of all time.

I love David. He interviews well. I would love him just for the music he puts on time and time again. This had to be so tough. What a great show. I miss Warren Zevon constantly. I thought it would get a bit better by now. God bless and thank you for all the good times you spread around. You are loved, Mr. Zevon.

I heard "keep me in your heart..." for the first time in a looog time and decided to find out more about warren.Haven't regreted that for a split second! There are only a few handful of people that can captivate you to such a degree as Zevon. It is a shame that he is gone but soon he will be seen in a truck driving trough new mexico alongside jim morrison and elvis : ) So much talent and such great songs should be mandatory to know!
  • @ncf1
just finished a cover of Carmelita, only just discovering his music now, great fun.
  • Zevon was the Sam Peckinpaw of rock music. An American original. Brutal and honest.
  • @atlast23
He faced it with humor. People were uncomfortable laughing but he put them at ease.
  • @kalelskywalker
sometimes, when you're doing simple things around the house, maybe you'll think of me and smile.......one of the best lines ever written, so simple, so beautiful.

So strange to watch live. Great music, great show and yet everyone knew it was the last time and why. I'll never forget watching it.
