  • For anyone curious about why I didn’t reference the events of chapters 119-120 pertaining to Bakugo, it’s basically because I’m trying to post this video in accordance with where the anime is at. And while I’m sure we’ll reach that moment very soon in S3, I haven’t read past that part and have no idea where his story goes from there, so I can’t comment on the developments past it. And while it greatly accentuates the points I make here, as a single scene in and of itself and disregarding future developments (which is the extent of my knowledge of it) it doesn’t really bring anything different to the table other than a great moment and further development in the same direction. Also, this is entirely different from my other Bakugo video, exploring the character in a way I didn’t before. In other news, I’ll be doing a Q&A video as a little 90K celebration thing! If you’re interested in asking a question, either ask it on my CuriousCat: curiouscat.me/Aleczandxr. Or in response to this tweet: twitter.com/Aleczandxr/status/1017765412530896896. I’ll pick a selection of ones to answer and put together a more casual video to answer them soon.
  • The best part of Bakugou is that he's able to change and develop without changing the entire aspect of his character at the same time.
  • As a former child prodigy turned average, that opening monologue hit home in a way that perfectly summarized why bakugou is one of my favorite characters in any medium
  • Spoiler alert "If you only look down on others, you won't be able to realize your own weakness"-Bakugou Katsuki
  • "A character at level 50 can't possible progress at the same rate as someone whose level 1"
  • @cvox607
bakugou went from " like i have a lousy quirck like those losers" to " if you keep looking down on others you'll never see your own weaknesses" he went from seeing deku as a pebble in his way to acknowladging him as somone worthy of all might trust and a good rival ( he even gave him advices and motivate him) he went from not knowing what his classmates names to making close friends , cheering them up and getting angry when he heard other bashing them best character for a reason
  • @JustinY.
He's lord explosion murder, what do you expect?
  • ive been telling everyone bakugo is my favourite caracter, but everyone said "oh you just like him cause he has a cool power"

For me it's pretty simple why I like his character. He's super well written and also grows as a person. Slowly but surely, Bakugou is learning that he needs to better himself in ways he never expected he'd need to, and so while the major parts of his personality are set in stone for the most part at his current age, he is nonetheless making fundamental changes to himself. But imo, I think that's a great thing. People don't change overnight. You don't just wakeup one morning and decide, "I'm gonna be a better person". Much like working out or going on a diet, the change is most likely going to be gradual, and you need to stick to it. And I think that sense of realism is what really draws fans towards his character, even if he is still kind of an asshole.
  • The beauty of Bakugou is that his character is so dimensional, in a hero series he manages to be likable as much as he can be unlikable, next to all the characters that mostly portray good characteristics. You can choose whether or not to like him, and that's what's interesting and intriguing about his character, because both make sense. In the end, whether you like him or not, we all at least can understand why he acts the way he does, and that's a well written character with a lot of complexities.

Bakugo represents those of us who used to go to the Gifted-Talented classes when we were young, and growing up to realize that we really aren’t so gifted after all
  • I always loved how Bakugou and Deku's relationship and rivalry has become this exchange of Bakugou being forced to work past his own inferiority complex, while Deku's savior complex is carefully molded into something far more healthy and supportive of his classmates. That's why Deku asking Kirishima to hold out his hand always gets me so much, because being around Bakugou has made Deku learn that a proper hero does not absolve others of responsibility for his own validation, but shares the appropriate burdens when someone is more qualified to do the job. It's a kind of character growth that I always really enjoyed since first reading it, and I'm glad a lot of people are picking up on it!
  • He's a great character. His development is a slow burn, but its very satisfying, and you can definitely see the changes in him from the first chapter to now in the manga. Even in the anime he recently said a sincere "thank you" to All Might. The Bakugo from the start of the series would never have legitimately thanked someone.
  • Wow, this actually changed my mind about Bakugou. I realized how much alike he is to me. I don't bully people like he bully's Deku but I hate losing and since everyone around me has always set high expectations for me because of all my accomplishments, I always strive for the best and anything less makes me want to give up on being the best. I mock people's failures bc I don't want people to think that I'm below them. I always thought Bakugou was an asshole because he doesn't know how to deal with losing and he doesn't just take it as a lesson, but this video made me realize that he actually doesn't know how to handle barriers. I personally get mad if i lose but I learn from it and I don't always take help as a bad thing. For some reason, I always had a little crush on Bakugou even though I hated him, I guess I know why now. He reminded me too much of myself, (minus his bullying) so i hated him, but subconsciously I was relating to him to an extent so I crushed on him.
  • On the surface I don't like Bakugo as a character. He's obnoxious, overly aggressive and loud. He's that asshole in school you see around. But under the surface I actually relate to him. I was always considered intelligent growing up no matter what I did. I always got good grades and understood things my peers couldn't. That sort of thing imbuned me with pride. I was a big fish in a small pond so to speak. So I emphasize with Bakugo and I'm sure he'll learn humility as the series goes on.
  • @ObaREX
Point is. Bakugo is a flawed person that provides contrast to the rest of the main cast. His personal journey ties in with the themes just as much as Deku and rest. Also, his anger and jerkass tendencies are just amusing! If everyone was nice all the time, the show would be boring!
  • How does anyone not like my boy Bakugo, he's so friendly :D. In all seriousness though, he is my favorite character for of most of the points you listed in this video, as well as the fact that he's one of the only characters that truly doesn't care what people think about him, he only values what he compares himself to like you said.
