  • Leonidas and his 300 Spartans are greatest of all heroes

The Oracle at Delphi foretold that Sparta shall mourn her liberty, or she shall mourn a king. Sparta chose to mourn a king. And so a king was slain and Sparta mourned. And Thespiae mourned. For the Thespians stood along their Spartan brothers as they circled the body of the Spartan king. And they died together, protecting a fallen king. Hail, Leonidas. Hail, Thespiae. Hail, Sparta. Hail, Helles. May the gods preserve your memory forever.
  • @WellWisdom.
A more realistic depiction of those battles.

epic. best tribute ever to a far greater movie than the new one. Well done to the maker!

They always forget the 700 Thespians in this battle who stood with them.
  • Not a bad song. It's metal and that's all that counts. This movie offers a slightly different angle on how the battles actually were. I don't want to compare the old and new one. They both have their place. I do think in real life the Spartans would have fought in a tighter phalanx formation. Who really knows, I wasn't there. But that's how they trained, and how you train is how you fight. But for the sake of the movie, they had to make it more visually attractive by having Spartans break rank to gain individual glory. Just looks better for movies I suppose. I can't find the full old movie on YouTube.
