In this weeks episode of Paint Talk I reveal my favorite colors for mixing skin tones. And no I am not talking about the primary colors. These are the colors that I make sure I have on my palette every time I paint a portrait. They allow me to reach my desired colors the fastest. I demonstrate this in the video by showing you how I mixed up skin tones for previous portraits. Enjoy!

Hi, I am the son of two artists and began painting in my hometown of Richmond, Virginia before I could walk. I was a rare combination of artist and athlete so I moved to Los Angeles in 2008 to play football for USC. I left the team my sophomore year to focus on painting and filmmaking, applying the same focus and discipline from my football career to my art. I primarily work in oils, and spend most free days painting "en plein air" in my new home of Sarasota Florida.

This has saved me hours of mixing and has really helped me speed up my colour mixing. Thanks Paint Coach! 👏

Let me just tell you - you're absolutely amazing for sharing your knowledge. I'm about to begin my studies at an art academy, and as someone who's never took art classes, and is about to go to college, that's pretty stressful 😅 I've heard that art teachers there flood students with critique. All I can do for now is hope that they can spread their abilities the way that you do. Thank you ^^

One of the only channels I’ve found that bothers to show BOTH skin tones (not just a 2 second footnote after only showing how to do the fair skin) as well as explaining it simply and efficiently so beginners and students don’t get overwhelmed with information :,) kinda gives more chill Bob Ross thank you

I don’t have alizarin crimson. I have cadmium red deep and blockx magenta (quidacrone violet), would either of those be a good substitute?

My paintings are very large. How do you mix big batches?
