It was tested on the Nurburgring first in June 2023, then early October, and returned Friday 13 October to see what was achievable. It was a damp day, so we weren’t expecting too much... sighting laps only in the morning and then two pacey laps in the afternoon, hitting a time good enough to class fastest car with a production chassis. We think it has more to give... so watch this space.

Imagine what Stefan Bellof did in 1983 with a handshifted Porsche 956 and traffic on the track: 6:11 min. Unbelievable

This just shows how impressive the gt black series, gt2 rs and 992 gt3 rs are. Especially the gt3 rs, with a quarter of the power, it still managed a sub 7. That's not a modified street car, it is a street car. The lotus is still mad impressive though.

Thank you for posting the full Lap with original audio! The intensity of the near silent drive makes you not realise just how fast the car is going, until you see the numbers! >_< Great video so far guys!

The driver is amazing. He's clearly remembered the entire course and is placing the car where it will be one second into the future. That's the only way I can describe it

Very cool lotus gave you the honour to exclusively document this. Incredibly impressive especially when fundamentals are shared from the eviya. Watching that lap it looked like it was played at x2 speed.

I appreciate this effort by Lotus and it's a remarkable achievement, but I would also like to see the what the production version can do in the Nurburgring.

10 seconds slower that the other track only I.D R! One full minute slower than the 919 Evo.

damn every car manufacturer has to build crazy stuff to go fast at the Nordschleife, whilest Porsche just builds their 911 gt3 rs every couple of years and then gives it to Manthey and then beating every fucking hypercars ass. I love it

I have more respect for the driver than the car itself, humans can only get so much better with their reflexes through practice as tthe neurotransmitter speed is chemically limited plus adding the amount of G's he is experiencing in all directions adds to how difficult these records are to accomplish, makes me wonder how much faster can a human piloted car be than this!

Is Louis speaking english at the beginning 😅. What they have done with an electric platform is absolutely monumental! I'm glad they were able to prove the concept on one of the most challenging tracks of all time. It makes the achievement that much better
