I love the fact that I'm learning more about art from a potentially dangerous knife wielding man than my art teacher
  • @bea3975
watching him teach how to art is like having your dad try and explain the math question for the 10th time back in grade 4
  • @SW12234
The rest of the YouTube art community: "Don't worry, we all make mistakes." Ethan: "Don't you ever, EVER let me catch using OVALS while drawing."
  • @jlinus7251
Ethens eyes look really adorable and anime like and then the rest of him is just MAN

  • @shwimp151
People say he's mean, but he's the art equivalent of a coach yelling at you and telling you you're bad to motivate you
  • @blueglass8076

This man is legitimately the best teacher I have ever seen. All the other art channels are like, "all you have to do to improve your art is do your own thing," and stuff like that, without clarifying what you should do to do your own thing. Ethan is like, "BEFORE YOU DO YOUR OWN THING, you must know this," and at the beginning, you're like jeez this guy is harsh, but as you keep watching his vids and improving, you realise all he is saying is the truth. And since the truth can hurt, all the other channels baby you. And since those channels care more about how you feel than your improvement, they fail at teaching you what you need to know, but not Ethan. He knows that what you need to improve is the truth, even if it is harsh. That's what a good teacher does. They tell you truth, even if it's not what you want to hear, because that's how you will improve. Knowing what you did wrong is what you need to improve, because if you don't know what you did wrong, you will never fix it.

I used to be a professional illustrator, and I eventually burnt out and went into nursing instead. But I started drawing again for the first time in two years today because of your videos. Thank you for making these!
  • @clear6723
me nodding, crying to myself because I still can’t figure out how to get rid of pressure opacity since I’m new to Procreate
  • @erickeller162
I came to this channel for the edgy, aggressive presentation. Accidentally learned something about drawing.
  • as a beginner artist, this was a bit over my level but so unbelievably more helpful than any other art tip video ive seen on youtube thus far
