    Wow, you are a very thorough teacher, thank you so much!!! You were recommended to me by someone on a graphite and charcoal Facebook page!! So many tutorials do not explain about pressure used, they just show themselves making circles. I use regular card stock to practice on, it is smooth and hardly has any tooth or roughness at all. Thank you also for narrowing down the pencils and stick you use. I was confused because I soon realized I could get quite a range of values with a 2B pencil.
