I thought this was from someone with millions of subs. The video has incredibly high-quality production. I played your game and it was also incredibly intuitive and addicting. Just subscribed :)
  • hey, this looks great! as a 2d artist, one small bit of advice: don't underestimate the power of gradients. they're easy to implement and help make even the simplest of drawings look more complete. i'll have to play the game when i get through my monstrous backlog :)

Man, watching you reflect on your journey was very entertaining. So much to learn from here. Great video.

Amazing video. Keep doing devlogs please!

as someone with a 165 hertz monitor its really nice to see a game that has a specific setting to odd refresh rates like 165 kudos to you man, good luck on the game!

This video is phenomenally edited and structured. You should really keep up with the Devlogs; quality like this is bound to end up beating the algorithm. Truely fantastic! As for the game itself, I absolutely love the concept. It may not be the most original, but the execution is all that matters, and from what you show, the mechanic seems to be really expansive and fun. This has a lot of potential! I wanted to leave in this comment some of my closing thoughts after seeing the game; I am no expert, but I think a little constructive feedback is always helpful. I think you should dedicate some time to the visuals of the game; the black and white minimalistic pixel art has so much potential! For example, I think your game could really benefit from some nice backgrounds; I'd recommend looking into some simple parallax, to keep it as minimalistic as possible but still have some ambience. Also some foreground elements would add a lot. If you define a clear setting of where you would like your game to take place and create a world around it, even if its minimalistic, the experience is going to be so much better; at least thats how it goes with my games. Also, some basic narrative can also go a long way. It doesnt have to be anything crazy... shit, look at Mario games, where the narrative is, at best, a single cutscene at the start of the game; but giving the player a little bit of insight into who their character is and what is their purpose can really help sell the experience, too. I think it would be much more enjoyable if I understood why the little chain creature is progressing through these worlds! Finally, make sure you teach the player the mechanics well. I see you made a level to teach the fact the chain cancels your speed in middair, whuch is perfect. Make sure you do things like that for the chain twisting you can do with the mouse, and the whole being shot in a direction because of the shooting inside a hook. I really hope to see this game fully fletched out and get to play it. Make sure you playtest (and, most importantly, have it playtested by other people!) a lot before you do. Keep up the great job with the development, and also keep the up the fantastic job with the vids!

Played this game at half speed and its wonderful. Will try adding speed options to anything I program now. (You did a really good job. Gamefeel, mechanics and level design are excellent)
  • This game looks extremely fun, I'll definitely be keeping my eye on it. I love simple physics-based stuff like this
  • @chance_E
You could have it when he shoots the hook out. The chains around his body disappear to show that that's the chain he's using.
  • coi la'au bisono li'u mi pu pendo la misno tadni hello 89o, i'm an old friend of misotanni I look forward to seeing more devlogs!
  • @ymellow.
    Creative concept and cool game!
  • it'd be nice if you could add special swinging hooks on which it is possible to change the length of the chain by scrolling with your mouse and with the chain automatically getting shorter, when the player would get closer to the hook. for reference see grappling hook from littlebigplanet 2. it feels great once mastered, which is why i'm suggesting it.
