The wreck occurred during a practice session following qualifying time trials for the sprint cars. According to the Lewistown Sentinel, Wayne Godshall of Shermansdale was racing a restored No. 77 super sportsman car when he jumped the wheel of another competitor as they ran down the backstretch. This sent his car into a series of violent flips. Medical crews worked on him at the track. A medical helicopter landed in the backstretch parking lot and he was transported from there. It was announced that he was moving and communicating in the helicopter.

Glad to hear he was talking and conscious when the helicopter got him

His daughter wrote" Dad was in a very serious accident last night. We will update as we’re able too but please just keep him in your prayers."
-

His helmet was outside of the top bar on the second roll😢
-
God bless you Wayne. You have always had your head on straight - race cars and steam locomotives. You're going to be OK!!
-
Prayers to that brave man.
-
We were on beer hill when It happened. Hoping he is ok!

He didn’t have his safety harnesses tight enough ..he actually came out a little his head was outside the roll cage …never a good sign when they aren’t moving or giving a signal . I raced open wheel sprints for years something you never want to see some one getting hurt
-
Sure would like to see how that started. Didn't look like they were going that fast, but damn he took a hell of a ride and flopping around in the cockpit. I pray he's okay.🙏🙏
-
Hope he is ok.

Seen from on top of a hauler. It was bad and watching that replay in slow motion made me sick

Stupid not having his belts done up tight. I know the idea is to keep the cars as faithful as possible to original, but we need to think about safety first and foremost. Deaths were common back they didn't have the same safety gear. Full containment seats, head and neck restraints, and arm restraints should be mandatory if they are going above a yellow light speed.
-
Wow, looks like the belts broke...Helmet strap too.
-
He had no arm restraints on and looked like he ran his belts loose!! ALWAYS dress for the crash… I really hope that dude is alright 😕
-
You just never know when it can happen to you. Hope you are ok
