Actually with this in mind the events from the official maker of corruption series makes more sense. Essentially monster or a form of him tried to afflict boyfriend with it knowing the boys potential (or maybe hoping that it would be like a zombie virus thing were the first infected goes unnoticed allowing it to take more hold and spread out of control) but unfortunately for him Girl and Boy were able to set him free. We know that once your corrupted and freed its harder to resist and break free from after so that’s probably why lemon was able to over power current BF with it and why it took so much effort to free him unable to even get half way with pico and despite DD trying his hardest only able to get broken when going down to a spiritual level
