That's OPD for you , the mayor says crime is down thirty percent, that's because thirty percent is not being reported. The police , Mayor, and DA is a joke.

and the moment you fire back at thieves then you're the bad guy smh
  • @Wazhadnin-wj5te
That guy just gave Oakland their new slogan. "Too busy, don't care."
  • @fuzzyslippers33
You have to say " I am armed and prepared to defend my property. Send officers and an ambulance." They usually show up real fast.

Stop making criminals a protected class.

That’s insane. I can guarantee if it was an individual refusing to give their ID, there would’ve been 50 cops on scene

This is one of many reasons why you can't rely on police to defend you. Get a plan, get a lawyer, get a rifle, and defend yourself.

The guy taking a picture of the license plate screams targeted job.

“The rights of criminals are given more respect than the privacy of their victims.”
  • He should’ve told dispatch that he was about to delete the criminals if they approached him. That would’ve got cops to respond quickly.

in 2022 my Tahoe got stolen in Oakland and I located it the next morning with the help of an air tag. I called 911 several times over the next few days and was given the same story "too busy to assist with a stolen property case." I have clear video footage of the theft and know exactly where the criminal lives. After an entire week of calling 911 daily, I finally took my spare set of keys and stole the car back out of the criminal's garage. I called 911 a final time to say I wanted to do a police report and that I wanted to press charges. They gave me a number to call. I called an left several messages...no reply. The criminal got away with it because the police and prosecutors are worthless. Here's the best part of the story.... I get a knock at the door 2 months after all this. It's the police. They asked if I broke into this guys garage, and I said yes and told them the whole story. Well apparently the thief said I damaged his garage when jacking it open . The Police charged me with TRESPASSING! I went to court and the judge had a stern talking to me and did not care at all that I was recovering my own property. The judge said i'm lucky to not get thrown in jail. The judge is making me pay monthly payments of restitution to the thief for the apparent damages to the garage. To this day the thief has still not been charged because they have no evidence that the thief was ever in possession of my car...because they refused to investigate it in the first place.

Welcome to Oakland. The News Media Company is more effective than the Police Department.

yep, i was in a car accident and the police called me and said they couldn't come out for 2-3 hours; they told me to let the insurance handle it. big mistake, now i know to always wait for the police to come and write a report stating who's at fault, cos the other guy ended up making up a new story in attempts to get his car fixed, and the insurance kept asking for a police report. time to get out of california.

These theives go in group. One night alone in San Mateo Village near Redwood City 6 cars got stolen including my husband’s work van that is full of tools. We have an apple airtag in the van, and they ended up abandoning our van 3 blocks away from our house. We called the cops and it turns out they were chasing one of the stolen car at that moment. We didn’t wait for them. My husband was able to reconnect the wires and start the van and brought it home. A cop showed up 2 hours later and that’s how we knew there were 6 cars got stolen and only ours was retrieved. Thanks to the airtag. My husband also installed a kill switch after the incident.

Crime is not deceasing in Oakland. It's just not being reported.
  • @trevorjensen2706
Imagine if police AND judges actually started taking crime seriously.

Unreal a vet is treated Like dirt. While they don't do anything for society. Yet this hero donates his if to uncle Sam and they can't even try to act like they care.
  • I lived in the Bay Area for a few years and someone broke my car windows and stole some items. I called the police and they said too bad and to fill out a form online. I was truly mind blown that someone could break into my car and there is literally nothing that could be done. There are cameras all over the street where it happened.
  • @Michelle-bn1fu
That's freaking insane that they just told the car and didn't actually charge the criminals that stole the vehicle even though they know where they live!
