He’s being called “America’s dad,” “political Ted Lasso,” “Coach.” Walz ticks off the traditional boxes for what is considered “masculine” — football coach, military man, hunter, skilled sharpshooter. But at the same time, he is also compassionate, is not threatened by smart women in power, and is not seduced by the desire to make as much money as possible (he didn’t apply for a salary raise in his 2nd term as governor and reportedly owns no shares of stocks or mutual funds.
