PLOT TWIST: Scratches on the gun case were from the squirrel so he could take care of business.

I like how the squirrel laughs at 1:59 when the guy mentions how he doesn't usually bite but he is a squirrel.

The amount of times I've been harassed by squirrels when I came too close to their home, it makes sense why a domesticated squirrel would protect your home as well. Also that Joey didn't attack the officer investigating, because he saw the two of you communicating and obviously not in a dangerous situation, the same way a dog does.

I give the squirrel props however I'm more amazed at the fact that the police recovered stolen property

Animals are far more intelligent that we give them credit for.

I would’ve changed my mind, too. Squirrels have those giant buck teeth meant for cracking nutshells. I can’t imagine how much damage they could do if they were actively attacking you.

A squirrel's got a right to defend its home against criminal scum too !
  • "Does it bite?" "I don't know. You never know. He is a squirrel." Joey: giggles

that pause before the word "squirrely" is masterful
  • As kids we lived in a large wooded family compound along the Mississippi River, which had lots of oak trees -- and therefore squirrels. If there were orphaned baby squirrels, my grandparents and parents (dedicated conservationists, even in those days in the early 1950s) had us kids care of them, feed them, until they could be released safely back into the wild. Over the years, we had a yardful of tame squirrel visitors who remembered the care they had received from us.😊
  • Imagine you're a burglar who's been planning for months, years, to commit the perfect crime, only to be thwarted by a fucking squirrel

We knew someone with a pet squirrel. They tried twice to release him back to the wild and he chewed through the ceiling to get back inside the house. His favorite thing was riding the ceiling fan..round and round..it was super funny. Edit: Thanks for all the likes!

Squirrels are very territorial. When a friend of mine and her partner moved into their newly purchased home, a squirrel who lived in their new backyard and thought it belonged to him, began to pummel everyone who ventured into it with pinecones. LOL So, they named him "General."

In nature, squirrels are quite territorial, so I'm not terribly shocked by this, even though it's a bit unusual. I suspect Joey is fine with somebody he doesn't know coming in the house so long as "Daddy" is home, and things are friendly. But some stranger comes in when Daddy isn't home, and starts messing around? It's time to bust some nuts.
  • This story is as good as the lady that brought a blind cat home from the shelter and on the first night she heard a racket downstairs and found a broken window with some blood. She called the police and a short time later the burglar was apprehended. He was drinking in a bar close by - covered in cat scratches! Great job, Joey!

Joey is a cutie ♥️♥️♥️ I raised a squirrel and he was my baby for 2 years I let him go in my back yard and he made babies and had a great life. The squirrels in my neighborhood had white bellies and my Rhett had an orange belly. There were no white belly squirrels born after his release they all still have orange belly’s for these 20 years. He left a legacy ♥️♥️♥️
