Finnair has rolled out perhaps the most controversial business class seat, a seat that doesn't even recline. Why would anyone find this seat desirable? How is Finnair's business class offering? Let's find out on this trip from Helsinki to Chicago on the A330!

I paid 57,500 American Airlines miles for this award ticket.

So Finnair's no recline seats: Good Idea? Bad? Have you flown it or would you give them a try?

Nice review! Tried the seat a while a ago and quite liked it. Agree on the cost cutting. Hopefully Finnair gets back on its feet soon!

Tried this back in Aug last year in NRT-HEL, I really enjoyed the seat, catering and service. The seat is just so well thought out with all the storage spaces, the bed is very spacious and cozy, and you can have all the things you need within reach even on a 13hr flight. Plus you get to fly the polar route. Only thing sub-par was IFE: it looked great, map being one of the best on the market, but selection is just lacking Cost cutting didn't really hurt me though, I booked a connecting itinerary from JL, and their very generous baggage rules (3x32kg for business pax) applied. Although AY reverted their baggage allowance cut for J pax, the carry-on limit technically still applies (although for the dozen of times I flew out of Helsinki with them, my carry-on didn't get weighed once)

Thanks for the report! I like the new seat, it's wide, private, feels like a safe cocoon. I've only tried it on short haul flights though, they use A350 regularly on HEL-LHR and in the coming summer also on HEL-AMS. You can even catch new the seat to/from Australia, Finnair operate BKK/SIN-SYD flights for Qantas. A long-term wet lease deal (A330), Finnair crews.
  • Finnair cost cutting is so bad, it is basically flying Ryanair. Their long-haul economy service got cut, no wine or beer after meal service. One choice of meal, no second service to NY or Dubai, no more pillow. They cut carry-on baggage for short-haul which is such a clear money grab. But since living in Finland, you hardly have a choice. Very few airlines fly to Finland and we pay very high prices for what is basically an ultra-low-cost airline. It harder makes sense to connect via Helsinki now with the Russian Aerospace closed. So they are squeezing every penny out of the passengers they can get.

A year? Why does it take so long to post?
