In this video of Living the Jo Life, we will be participating in Ramadan in Saudi Arabia. After getting up at 4:30am for suhoor, we perform wudu and attend the Fajr prayer. After a snooze, we got ready for the Juma prayer in the beautiful Grand Mosque in KAUST. We arrived early to meet up with a friend and to read the Quran before the prayer. In the afternoon we played games and watched Netflix, before heading into Jeddah. As it was time for the Asr prayer on the way into Jeddah, we stopped along the road to perform the prayer. A rather dusty experience. Then, we headed to Jeddah’s newest shopping mall, U Walk. While the mall was nice and air-conditioned, many of the shops are still yet to open. We broke our 13-hour fast outside a nearby mosque with some dates and water before attending the Maghrib prayer. Across from U Walk, we went to Nando’s for a delicious Iftar. After Iftar, we went into Al Balad (Historic Jeddah) to experience the Ramadan atmosphere. Al Balad certainly didn’t disappoint. It was very busy with people and beautifully decorated with fairy lights and lots of stalls. We got to meet and chat to a lot of locals, and hang out at some of the cozy cafes. We also reflect on our Ramadan experience from last year and answer one of the most frequent questions from our Ramadan YouTube video from last year: Are we becoming Muslims?

Hi there, I’d like to take the opportunity to thank you. I very much enjoyed your video in Jeddah. It was very eye opening on Saudi culture. I am a Muslim living in London but I never had the chance to visit Saudi Arabia. I appreciate how genuine and honest of a family you are. I agree with what you said about conversion. As long as people like you exist there is hope for mankind. May God bless you.🥰
