I feel like Kevin Feige has been gaslighting me for the past decade. So I needed to get this rant off my chest. Apologies if my voice sounds inconsistent here. I got a nasty cold halfway through this production. Anyway, Enjoy.

This video got age restricted, most likely due to the old title. Hope you don't mind the change.

  • Wow, this video’s been blowing up way beyond my expectations. Thank you all very much for the support, and I’m happy I could entertain you. If you stick around, I promise there will be more great things to come!

Current Hulk is the literal embodiment of everything wrong with the MCU. Jokes, action, nothing serious. No stakes. Just a safe adventure for the whole family. Never mind the fact that Marvel's comics have always been leaned towards mature stories.

Opening Infinity War with Hulk getting beat so bad that it causes a psychological crisis and then never revisiting it or having a rematch of any kind is simply unforgivable writing
  • Hulk losing to Thanos felt kind of... weightless Like, he literally just lost to Iron man in age of ultron and was the underdog against Thor. Him losing to the Mad Titan, with or without stones made sense but having lost twice already makes it feel like he's pretty weak now.

They sacked Norton precisely because of things you laid out in the video. He wanted to keep Banner and Hulk as darker characters, Disney wanted to go another route.

Problem with MCU's Hulk is that all of his important character development happens OFF-SCREEN inbetween big movies.

The reason why “creative differences” happened with Edward is because he wanted to stay true to the comics with Hulk. He’s a huge fan of Marvel and wanted to be the most comic book accurate Hulk he could be, but they wouldn’t let him take over some of the production to do that. So blame the film studio he worked with. Not him.

I felt like I was the only person that thought they killed the real Hulk. You really summed it up. Thank you for putting this together.
  • I think the most heartbreaking thing is that Ruffalo at some point kinda just stopped caring about the character. Go back and watch his first few appearances as Banner. The writing may be problematic and up for debate, but he absolutely nails the acting for what they were trying to do. Now he's just cashing in the paycheck. He's also lowkey become a Disney shill, but that's another conversation.
  • The worst part was that they actually wrote hulk into infinity war, they showed him bursting out of the armor and advertised it as such. They even filmed a scene with hulk in endgame where he is saving citizens from a fire. If these were included this could have been the “professor hulk” so that by the end of endgame could feature the planet breaker. They teased his revenge and didn’t play it through. His “love interest” dies and he has a building collapse on him. If there was ever a world breaker moment that was it. But instead he throws a bench.

As a big fan of the Hulk from the comics, animated films and other forms of media, it kinda hurts to watch how the MCU is writing him in their new content. The character has a lot of potential to be an interesting topic to focus on for a movie but it's like they want to continue to disregard him.

I’ve always seen the hulks downfall symbolized by the hulk slowly losing his color. He went from a dark green in the first movie to a really light/whitish green that looks faded and sad.

Disney ruined the Hulk when they realized they didn’t have to make good movies anymore to get people to watch them
  • Something I've said, especially after Infinity War, was how Hulk simply wasn't as dynamic or memorable any longer. He wasn't frightening. He wasn't this force of nature who could potentially due the most amazing things of anyone. I believe what he lacked was his transformations. Not from Hulk to Banner, but Banner to Hulk. When we saw this in 2008 and Avengers, and even 2003, his transformations were incredible. Left this lasting impression like 'Holy shit! That's ridiculous and terrifying'. Made for great body horror and was an awesome display of power. Hulk to Banner was depowering
  • As a normie MCU fan, thanks for this. I found myself caring less and less as the movies went on, and I stopped caring altogether after Endgame, but never really knew why. This gave me a lot of perspective from behind the curtain and put it into words.
  • Not only Hulk is nerfed but his supporting characters like Rick Jones and Doc Samson are forgotten??? They’re important to the Hulk’s Mythos…
  • @natnut2008
Why this video blew up is because you touched a nerve in all longstanding Hulk fans. They know how complex, nuanced and powerful he is in the comics and how MCU completely wasted his potential.
  • 1000% agree with every word you said. The Hulk is nothing more than a joke for the MCU. I hated that whole “they did professor hulk in the comics”. As if “they did it in the comics” automatically means something is good. Like you said, it was a short lived comic. Now we have She-Hulk.. to further bury The Hulk into the ground. Another case of the MCU wanting to make every OG hero a joke. I’m so happy they didn’t ruin Captain America. They got to Thor though..

"Not all comics are good and worth adapting." Most important thing said in this video. I'm so tired of people saying that stuff is good because it happened in the comics when everyone hated the comics.
  • @Booty_Crum
"He'll Smash Anybody that interferes with his peace" was unintentionally or intentionally a sick AF Hulk line.
