When Bucky was pretending to still be the winter soldier proves my point. He isn’t nerfed!!!! He just holds back now, because he doesn’t want to kill when he was like the winter soldier.

I think the part where Bucky pretended to be controlled by Zemo was the best. I also loved how Sam was concerned for Bucky if he’s really being controlled. They're really like brothers.

Notice during his fights, he rarely uses his metal arm offensively and primarily guards with it until he either has a sure shot on a (relatively) nonlethal hit or he knows the target can take it. Compare it to the fights he has when he is the winter soldier, that arm is not only used far more liberally, but also to the extent where if there was a kill strike opportunity, he would not only take it, but also actively use it to bolster his own attacks as well. It's a difference in mentality as he is fully committed to reforming and while the arm is a bonus, he doesn't use his old attack patterns because those are designed for assassination. On the other hand, he is a crack shot with a gun since that was there before he even became the winter soldier.

He's exhausted, every fight scene he looks like "come on mannnn" and I like it

I like how even though his offenses have gotten weaker due to his humanity taking over his WS side, but his defense is still perfect.

I can see Bucky losing to the Wakandans just because they weren’t trying to hurt each other but just disarm each other, literally😂😂

Bucky has the most intricate, profound, and layered characterization in the whole MCU and it’s a fact. Imagine having three different identity? It was like undergoing a metamorphosis, and Sebastian Stan gave justice to all of that writing and heavy fleshing out. He’s such an underrated gem. Love to see him in a standalone film where he’s embracing his power and not afraid of it. He’s still inside his shell.

2:02. I love how Bucky recalibrates his arm the same way he did with his original in the Winter Soldier

How cool would it be if Marvel made a Winter Soldier Standalone movie. Just him doing Hydra Assassin stuff
  • @lucaslagiglia
Winter soldier Bucky would have curb-stomped the flag smashers and walker
  • I love how they still used the winter soldiers soundtrack whenever Bucky fights. The high pitched howl of the winter soldier still prevalent in the way he fights its beautiful.

2:29 can we just stop for a minute and really think about this scene. He’s gotta have thrown that really hard and really fast to get that to go through the concrete ground which is absolutely amazing.
  • Don’t think he’s gotten weaker. He’s just holding back, being more reserved with his powers and skills because he’s Bucky Barnes from the 1930s with regained consciousness and empathy. he holds the memories but he’s no longer a brainwashed soldier under Hydra’s control. / EDIT: 69+ replies below of bucky-nerf'd-or-not discourse [cut away to 1 hour zemo-dance frenzy]

0:46 People sometimes forget Bucky is also a super soldier, just look how fast he goes OMFG
  • @gracemon2oe
Sebastian will always and forever have the most epic roar-yell when he tackles and/or falls in a rage, it is ferocious.
  • I’m sorry but his growl at 4:11 is just feral. I love that Bucky’s slowly getting better, and learning to trust himself more. It’s moments like these though where we see that the Winter Soldier isn’t entirely gone, and I love that! Bucky Barnes is amazing, but the Winter Soldier was truly something else.

4:27 we're all know if Bucky was still the WS, Karli would have been impaled lmao

You can tell Bucky is holding back. If he were still in his Winter soldier mode before he was deprogrammed, he would be devastating.

For all the people complaining about him getting 'nerfed' in the show: He has a severe PTSD and trauma, he is on presidential pardon, he can't break rule no. 2, he has been out of practice for a really long time now and he doesn't want to fight anymore. This all lines up perfectly with his amazing character development in the show. Now by the end of the show he was more comfortable in his own skin and was starting to accept himself so maybe the next time we see him, he finds a balance between Bucky and the Winter Soldier? I'd say let's not be too quick to judge.
