Um so we’re just gonna casually skip over Roxas having to murder his best friend Xion and then watch her die in his arms? I don’t know about you, but that’s really fucked up.

Vexen begging for his life in that moment is sheer proof that “Nobodies not having hearts” was BS.

You didn’t even mention how when terra got his body snatched, in the book for kingdom hearts character files terra says that he is literally in the void but is still conscious throughout it all and was slowly losing his sanity if not for ven and aqua still giving him that glimmer of hope

Fun Fact: After releasing Kairi, Sora becomes a heartless. When Kairi saves Sora, he didn't magically become whole again. Sora's heart was just reminded of what he was supposed to look like. Sora doesn't become whole again until nearly the end of KH2, when he merges with Roxas. So for the remainder of KH1, all of Com, and most of KH2, Sora is still a heartless.

“Too angry to Die” and that’s why Terra’s theme is called Rage Awakened

Not just Vexen's death, but also the dialogue gets me everytime. Vexen: No, please don't. I don't want to - Axel: Goodbye
  • What really gets me about Sora’s sacrifice in KH1 is that he does a similar cheesy smile to the one he does in the beginning of the game, right after Donald tells him “No frowning. No sad face. Okay? This boat runs on happy faces.” So when he does it again before his sacrifice, that’s him masking his sadness. It’s like he’s telling Donald and Goofy, “everything’s gonna be okay.” I don’t really know if that’s the intent, but I don’t really know how else to read that scene.
  • One dark moment that comes to mind is also Birth by Sleep where Ventus asks Aqua and Terra to kill him if he can't beat Vanitas, a 16 year old boy asking to be killed without hesitation is pretty dark in my opinion

Ansem the Wise LITERALLY told Roxas, a child, that he should not exist.

You really gonna forget that time in KH3 near the end of the Caribbean when Davy Jones just straight up STABS AND KILLS Will Turner in front of Sora?! The boy literally witnessed a visceral death instead of some flashy or fade away from existence. The whole thing basically made him forget the keyblade and just start throwing actual hands towards Davy Jones with Donald and Goofy backing him up. Now THAT’S what I call “the power of friendship.” https://youtu.be/Ewm3HmtIz18

Ventus’s “please put and end to me” line always makes me so sad
  • I’m surprised there was not a single mention of Roxas and his struggles about who he is culminating in his sacrifice at the end of Kingdom Hearts 2’s prologue.
  • I also like how sora offing himself to save his friends and Riku samurai slashing lexeus was brought up but not the Kh1 Moment where Riku/Ansem literally stabs Maleficent in the chest with a sword.

Adding onto Strelitzia, her death retroactively makes the ReCoM boss fight of Marluxia ten times darker with the implications of the Nobody the dude chills on as he fights Sora.

No mention of Xion forcing her best friend to murder her in 358/2 Days? Or the insane human experimentation talked about in the KH1 and KH2 secret reports? Or how about the Keyblade War in Union Cross, where millions of child soldiers battle each other to the death?

On this topic, the Mobile games deserve a whole separate video each. KHUX gets especially dark if you actually played the game yourself, because the protagonist is created by and personified by you, the player. All the messed up stuff that happens to the Protagonist feels a lot more personal at that point (though Damo279, Everglow, and a few others have the special case of having their journeys be in the spotlight for many people's first reactions).

I might be wrong tho, but i think the bbs moment where the evil stepsisters get "bursted into flames" its just an explosion that sends them flying away team rocket style. I think thats what happens by the way Cinderela and Aqua watch them in the next scene.
  • How are you going to ignore half the sadness that is in KH Days like for example 1) Xion learning she's nothing more then a puppet. 2) Axel having to continuously fight his friends over and over again in mental and physical battles. 3) Roxas literally killing Xion and have to literally forget she even existed. Like seriously Kingdom Hearts 358 Days/ 2 is my first KH game and this game made me cry as a 9 year old due to the tragedy that happens in this game.
  • @DarkAstral7
Ventus: RUNNING FOR HIS LIFE Vanitas: Nope! Taco Bell SFX
  • Skyward: what did i miss Me: almost the entirety of the ending of 358/2 days and prologue to kh2. Axel at one points literally hunts down Xion and they attack each other nearly to death only for Xion to escape yet again and attempt to murder Roxas or be murdered in the process ending with Xion being murdered. While her murderer begs for her not to die while she deteriorated into his arms. Then riku forces Roxas into a fight only to end up brainwashing him and keeping him prisoner while his old best friend tries to hunt him down with orders to also murder him, then he is forced to over exhaust himself until he literally ceases to exist and have to reform with Sora.
