Processing small projects, even medium sized projects in Metashape is usually simple. What happens when you have 5000, 10 000, 50 000 images? Agisoft Metashape can process enormous project, without breaking it up into chunks.

This method shows how to setup a network processing cluster, on just 1 workstation which allows you to process bigger projects than ever before, without it failing on you.

Server Config:
"c:/program files/agisoft/metashape pro/metashape.exe" --server --control 10.x.x.x --dispatch 10.x.x.x

(Put your IP address and your Metashape folder location in the string above)

Node Config:
"c:/Program Files/Agisoft/Metashape Pro/metashape.exe" --node --dispatch 10.x.x.x --root //computer/projectfolder

(Put your IP address and your project folder location in the string above)

  • Brilliant hack to help keep old machines in the game and/ or to help any machine process larger data sets. Thanks!
  • Awesome, a really good explanation and a definitive solution to process massive projects with even a modest PC without going out of memory. It's a bit strange to set up a local server for just your machine, as subdividing the process in small workloads should be inbuilt in the default program, but it works like charm, thanks a lot :)
  • Great Video, makes much more sense carrying on with this method since I'm usually collecting 2+ acres Sq. of aerial data.

Olvidé mencionar que en el cuadro de diálogo del Metashape para conectar la red, ya no es doble Backslash, sino un solo backslash. Así: C:\Proy_Vant\Proy_SantaRita

hi guys, thanks for giving good knowledge sharing, it's very nice ❤️
  • Very-very helpfull video! Thanks a lot! Can you shoot how to do it with more than 1 same-computer node? I tried with laptop it appers in monitor with "ready" status, - but it said "failed #4 MatchPhotos: Can't open file: .......... (3): C:/Projects/test.psx" after it starts. :(
  • Hey whatsuppp! Great greaat video! Is there any way I could do this with just Metashape? Or is it necessary to have Metashape Pro?
  • @Erdal_Gumus
You really did a terrific job; many thanks. I'm Dr. Erdal Gumus, a GIS academician and SAR-OSH-BST specialist. I'm setting up a 20-computer GIS lab that will also serve as a UAV photogrammetry processing farm, providing decision makers with drone-based orthomosaic maps and other immediate situational awareness data during a natural disaster, which is not unusual in Turkey. According to the Agisoft article, parallel processing performance cannot be expected as "N times the Node". Based on your experience, what is the performance % of each additional processing unit added to the network? Best regards from Turkey.

This is a great video and will definitely put into practice for my next big project. Would you find this useful to do even if you only have one work station and mostly medium size projects?
  • Gran video, felicitaciones , nos ayudas mucho, una pregunta, en caso de procesar en 2 computadoras la de nodo necesariamente debe tener instalado Agisoft metashape? o solo ejecuto el archivo nodo.bat ?
  • @retorique
Essential hack, thanks a lot! If I were to survey a 9km x 100m strip, do you think this would do the trick fine? Or would it be a better practice to divide in chunks and do it piece by piece?
  • @olligilbert640
Like the video, just wondering what pc you are running to be able to do this. Thanks
