Larry Graham - Thank you for Letting Me Be Myself

Published 2012-01-10
Live on KPFA radio studio. Oh, this was a LIVE live show, folks! It was on Greg Bridges' show, "Transitions on Traditions" with Ricky Vincent interviewing Larry. The music was beyond the funk, the funk, the whole funk, nothing but the funk! Larry Graham, Dave Council, keyboards, Brian Brazil, drummer, Wilton Rabb, guitar, Jimmy McKinney, keyboards, Ashling Cole, vocals & funk box.
Apologize for the end of the tape, but I recorded the next song separately. Keep listening, you'll hear it soon! WHAT A PERFORMANCE! The mikes were low in the studio but blaring through the radio. If possible when I get the studio copy, I'll try to load it up to the video, with a lot of help from my techie friends!

*UPDATE: The vocal sounds were controlled by the sound engineer. We in the audience also had a hard time hearing the vocals. Volume was too low. Alas...

Thank you Larry Graham and the family, it's a privilege to enjoy your love for music and family. Love and peace to the family 🤍
  • My toes are curling....this is so funky. Could use a little volume on the vocals though. But the groove is totally "oops upside your head".

That's the real funk...sly is the truth. After James and the JB's invented it. Sly took it to the house. That song still the benchmark not to even talk about that bass line...nasty
  • i guess there's not much chance Larry and Sly will ever work together again but if they could it would be nice while Sly is still here

say's Ebony Rock's Mark Wilson//they are kicking this thing hot and heavy.. I hear sly, billy preston and curtis mayfield vibe
