“What’s the first thing you’re gonna do when you’re free?” “Dance.”
  • @utprez
the best part is they DIDN'T say "dance"... they just started dancing. Amazing film.

"let everything happen to you beauty and terror just keep going, No feeling is final" One of the most inspirational quotes

It wasn’t until this scene that I realized we hadn’t seen her smile the whole movie.

What's important is, that they are both dancing, and she is dancing in his mother's shoes. This, i think, just shows that Rose's legacy lives in Elsa. Top movie of the year for me.

During the film, Jojo's mother tells her son that dancing is critical, and shows god that they are happy to be alive. Fast forward to the ending, we see Jojo, an orphan, and Elsa, a Jewish teen displaced by the war, dancing. This scene makes for a great ending. A brilliant one.

The look on Elsas face when she sees the American soldiers and realises the Nazis lost the war and that she’s free is so beautiful. An expression can say so much more than words

There's just something so beautiful seeing a German Boy and a Jewish Girl dancing in the street to David Bowie.

The acting of these two in this scene is just incredible. Not a word is spoken but you can feel their relief, joy, and freedom from their faces and dancing.

I love how the most heartwarming film of the year is about a boy whose imaginary friend is Hitler, directed by the dude who directed Thor Ragnarok

If I could erase one thing from my memory, I would love to forget that I've seen this movie just so I can experience it like the first time.
  • This final scene is absolute poetry. When Heroes kicked in, watching them free and silly, I found myself crying and laughing at the same time. What a movie

The part where Elsa sees the US flag always gives me chills and makes me very emotional to think that this was a real thing that happened

Holy crap this scene gets to me. A 17 year old girl believing for years that she may never get to live her dream of dancing as a free person and then getting to live that dream is so freaking powerful. David Bowie's Heroes fits perfectly. Great scene. Great movie.

I can’t remember a movie that’s hit me like this ever.
  • @noumanintown
I wish Bowie could have seen this. Bookending such a poignant and whimsical movie with a feeling of hope and promise, using a song he wrote, can only imagine what it must feel like. Great music really does live on forever.
