They needed to get rid of two left shot defenseman so that's one. Walman got benched at the end of the season coming off of an injury. He's ok offensively but is a defensive liability. Also need to buyout Holl and Copp

Clearing cap to re-sign Kane and/or make a big run at a Reinhart or Montour level player in UFA

Wings don’t need offense right now. We got our big offensive splash last year in Debrincat. Kane could resign but the offense was good without him. This team needs defense or they’ll miss the playoffs again

Walman wasn’t good deep in the d zone. He was okay in the neutral and o zone.

Its probably agreed upon that they'll take Copp of our hands later. The amount of Copps salary we retain will dictate what else we have to throw in.

There’s no world in which we should have had to give away walman with a 2nd attached . Couldn’t even have tried waivers first? Walman had 12 goals in 60 games for dman making less than 3.5 ... no takers? Come on I suspect we’ll be hearing a trade announced tomorrow otherwise this trade makes even more less sense than it already does

It’s crazy how people really don’t understand this is a cap dump. If you buyout a contract, that’s still on the books. If you trade the contract away, then it’s off your book. People act like cap dumping is easy… it’s not.

I don’t like giving away league average players, but…it clears a bit more cap space for a big signing or trade, and it clears up the log jam on the blue line a bit. People forget…they burned a year of Edvinsson’s ELC last season. Albert Johansson HAS to make the team this season, or they have to trade him b/c he’s not waiver eligible. Some of the D-men have to go, and…there obviously wasn’t a market for Holl or Maata.

You have Cossa and Augustine in the pipeline, Cossa played the playoffs for GR. He’s close. Spending assets for a goalie seems like a bad investment. Especially because you can’t move Ville and his contract. If it costs a second for Wally, what’s it going to cost to move an injury proned goalie?
