I’m the guy cracking fire whips at the 21 second mark. I’ve been performing at this festival since 2010.
  • Heaven help all of us booth owning artists and the management of most Renaissance Faires that will have to spend the next 10 years explaining to the patrons that most of us are not at all like this. That most faires are not at all like this. That most craftspeople and artists are not like this. That we are just normal people with mortgages and insurance and kids trying to make a living.
  • No matter how crazy George comes off in this, I can assure you, he's worse.

“He’s not crazy, he’s just thinking on a level you can’t comprehend” said of every single sane person in history…

Everything I've ever heard about Texas Renneisance Festival management from the shop owners and staff make them seem like the worst people.

What? Who came up with this? The Renfaires were first invented by Phyllis Patterson, history teacher, and friends in the early 60's in Southern California as a benefit, I believe, for KPFA. Then they got very popular, and eventually the Pattersons became the owners of the Southern and then Northern California Renaissance Faires, and the rest is history as others developed Faires around the country. I did the New York, Maryland, and Arizona Renfairs for 20 years, and remember with great affection my life then.
  • ....except the first Renaissance Faire was started by PHYLLIS PATTERSON IN 1963 IN CALIFORNIA, where George was a stained glass vendor. As someone who has been performing on the faire/festival circuit since 2004 (and attending since the early 90s), I can already tell this is going to be a Trainwreck. Also, a good chunk of faires began, Not to "be like George". *longest exasperated sigh, in soothe* Not to mention the massive cultural-economical differences between a Renaissance Festival that is year-round constructed, versus faires who are more flexible in theme/time period/setting in their niche and are composed of tents on large lots/parks........on-site faires like Oklahoma Renaissance Festival, Scarborough Faire, Kansas City, Sterling, Bristol, Michigan; tent faires like Midsummer Fantasy Faire, Medieval Faire of Norman, Heavener Viking Runefest, Celticfest, and so forth.

I lived on King Georges land for a few years and he is absolutely crazy.

This feels like a reality show masquerading as a documentary
  • I have a lot of friends who's worked Renfaire. The guy at the end with the hand cannon came and put of a salute at my uncle's wake with that thing. Just, been awesome. However every Rennie worth their salt will agree that George is bat$hit insane.

I remember some years back the owner of TRF has us print 30k flyers for him looking for a wife. It had so many requirements like can't be over 160lbs, no drinking or smoking, ect😂

Is this the guy King of the Hill made fun of with that Alan Rickman character?

There's a big one held at my local county park in Southern California. The park is usually empty, but the place is packed with caravans, large trailers, and cars when the Faire happens. People from all walks of life trying to have a good time role playing their favorite era. It's also a marketplace for local/independent artists to sell items they can't do anywhere else. I hope this documentary celebrates these people just trying to have a good time.

Well, that explains the exponential price hike for tickets the last couple years.
  • Louie is THE BEST!!!!!!!!! I worked for him for a few years and it was the best time ever.
