I wouldn't put it pass Nomura to recontextualize this seemingly 1-and-done room like he did with that miscellaneous room at the end of KH 1 to MASTERFUL effect.
  • @MistaWind
Devs: "we just needed to put something here" Fans: 18 YEARS LATER IT MIGHT BE UNION CROSS
  • @easyscout8369
To be fair. We've known about Kairi being in a pod since KH1 and it's only been an actual plot point in Melody of Memory
  • @many_lives4925
I bet it's where they put the unused final fantasy characters they were gonna use for KH3 and then just forgot about them.
  • @SullivanMiranda
I've always had the theory that the Foretellers were in here. Seven pods, by the way! Plus the unicorn/Unicornis designs...maybe this is how they survived, in one way or another? And NO ONE knows who used to live in the mansion? How long has it been abandoned? Too many questions left unanswered by these little details.
  • as soon as i saw the thumb nail i knew it was gonna to be "so we stopped to read a text box"
  • @KingdomPuns
Extra detail to note is they only separate the long used pods from the recently used/unused pods. They make sure you know not only that 2 were used there, but that Donald and Goofy using the pods wouldn't count to their separation. Given we know the experiments on the heart were tied to memory experiments, and that Ansem only gained access to the place after he was banished to the Realm of Darkness, that means Xehanort couldn't have used the pods to regain his memory removing him as a candidate. SoD Ansem suspects Subject X was taken to the mansion to have her memories inspected, leaving 1 pod left for Ansem himself to regain his own memories making him the first and Subject X the second, Roxas has his "new persona" we see at the start of KH2 through it or another character with amnesia has used it.
  • Yeah and there is more ... for example if you examine the library in Merlin's House Sora says: "There is a Book of Future Events" This is not the exactly words but he says anyway Weird
  • @WilyGryphon
Well, those pods were already in place before SDG needed them. Ansem the Wise was already in Castle Oblivion, so he likely already had them and brought them that day.
  • @Doritochi
Im guessing thats where Xion and Replica Riku were made.
  • @livale8337
lol bold of you to assume kingdom hearts isnt gonna wait two decades for a reveal
  • @nate6045
The pods look like they can move. Mystery solved.
  • @Yamigetsu
Xion and Riku Replica were grown in those pods I think? No idea where I got that idea from but it would line up with how those games originally came out (CoM>2>Days iirc)
  • Considering SPOILERS Skuld is in all likelihood a test subject of Ansem SOD, this holds weight
  • @CMRandall669
Those pods are clearly on a conveyor belt. Ot could easily be the same ones donald and goofy were but just rotated around.
  • @replicatv1463
Kingdom hearts and one piece be doing world building differently, we'll probably end up getting backstory about the eggs with Isa and Lea's "friend"
  • @xchuggernutzx
Bet they’ll be like yea Ansem the wise was trying create and army of artificial keyblade wielders (like the blank vessels from kh3) to fight xenanort so no more hearts was would be consumed from innocent people or character that play an important role and not just to bring the 13 lights together
  • @agilortiz21
Why do I think it’s Subject X which could explain her disappearance.
  • @bakacdaz
Maybe even Nomura himself already forgot the answer.
  • @ryzekiv7147
KH: “Its been used before…” Me: “EWWW! Nomura, WHY?!”
