The red paint on cut surfaces in museums is so that the viewer of the object can distinguish between what is original to the object and what the museum has done to enhance it.

This is hands down the best music technology channel. Very creative and original. Sam you are an inspiration. .
  • “Flat blade screws, bane of my life”. I couldn’t agree more 😆
  • @danton8302
Fun fact: In Black Hole Sun, Chris Cornell plugged into a Marshall head which was plugged into a Lesley speaker. He used a slow speed for the melody line and a fast speed for the slide part

I just flew from the US to the UK a week ago to see the museum. It's definitely worth the visit! I wish I'd known about the music festival though.
  • @Savagetechie
If ever there was a setup that needed a binaural recording!
  • @MrMaxeemum
I am sure Mr Stockdale would love the work you are doing, not necessarily the music (different generation) but he would love that younger generations are doing their thing with the equipment. Keep up the good work Sam.

The setup with the tape loops is so cool!

I used to love bunging my SH-101 into the Leslie input of my friends ancient old Gem organ, it sounded well cool! I can only imagine how awesome an analogue synth would sound going into four at once!
  • Just wanted to say that the inside of that controller box looked incredibly neat and tidy when you finished up. I know you make it seem like you're just bashing stuff together, but I think the results clearly show your professionalism!
  • An integrated phase control would be really cool. Surely, you've thought of this. You are a genius.
  • @redfrontdoor
Never seen that many Leslies together ever. Awesome..
  • @lascheque
I'm convinced future mankind will be baffled that Cyberdyne Systems and Skynet derived from a really cool tech museum in the UK.
  • Out of this world. You looked like you where sitting in the middle of some sort of UFO prototype. Love it.
  • @MrAsBBB
I can feel the fun you are having. I am getting on a bit but I learn so much from your channel.. What’s the phrase… Old dog, new tricks. Don’t think so.. All the best Alex.

When you started playing the tape machine through it it gave me the most fantastic vibe of an experimental 70s animation film about faeries or The Hobbit or something

With all the organ stuff of all types that you've collected and converted to midi, you could cobble together one heck of an instrument if you assembled them all together. And I approve of the choice to cut those speakers in a museum setting. When i was younger, I never had any idea how those worked. I always wondered how you make a speaker rotate.
  • This looks like a blast to play. The larger Leslie with the wood baffle and no horn rotor may be a model 125. I have chopped my own down to be piano bench height. It was modified to control the speed and break with my heel using a three way switch on the back wired to the Leslie socket.
