Similan liveaboard reviews - Season 2020/ 2021

Published 2021-09-09
Last season was quite unusual!

Here are some testimonials for the lucky divers able to diving in the Similan in 2021!

Covid has brought havoc to the tourism industry (amongst others) and a year ago we were worrying about how this season 2020/ 2021 would go for Thailand liveaboards.

The crisis has brought a lot of change to The Smiling Seahorse as not only were we unable to welcome our usual guests coming from abroad but we are also unable to dive into our beloved Mergui Archipelago in Myanmar since March 2019 and have no foresight of a reopening date so far.

"Change is not always a bad thing so we made the best of it"

We met some incredible people who live in Thailand and enjoyed time above and below water with these new friends diving Surin and Similan islands from November 2020 to April 2021.

We discovered that Thailand is still a special gem and had some wonderful dive sites!

In 2021, we also fell in love with Black Water diving and will include blackwater diving as an option on all our future itineraries.

At the end of 2021, we will run new itineraries exploring both the North or the Andaman Sea in Surin and Similan islands but also the South Andaman with dive sites in the top 5 marine national parks in Thailand all the way to Koh Lipe near the Malaysian border.

We have created new partnership with various professional to organize themed cruises for photographers and marine biology enthousiast and we are very much looking forward to the coming season 2021-22 in the Andaman Sea!

In this video, we interviewed a few of our guests who came onboard MV Smiling Seahorse last season and asked them about their experience diving the Similans!
