This beginner lesson is all about what finger to put your slide on, getting started and a basic slide exercise on the top string, designed for you to work on getting that smooth, sweet slide tone! Good luck and keep practicing! Check out the next lessons to advance your slide journey!

Also, on an unrelated note - Feel free to checkout my Original Acoustic style singer/songwriter tunes at www.myspace.com/dangreennz

The recordings aren't the best, but it gives you an idea of what other styles of music I've been experimenting with. Thanks for your interest!

Regards

Dan

Hey thanks for the kind words. I really wanted to try and give people who know nothing about playing slide a good insight into how to start. I don't have one on setup yet, but I get asked regularly to make another Slide guitar series. Only problem is I don't have the camera, but will in the next month. So stay tuned :) Dan

Just Sharing a bit of praise. This is really well done. I've been playing guitar for a year and have always been interested in slide. Most videos assume too much on the players part where you break things down to the smallest issue. Thanks for making things so clear. I'm gonna search your other videos. I hope you have one covering guitar setup. I have two guitars that play beautifully in regular playing but give me fits with a slide.

Hi, glad I could help you. If you follow the lessons you should get the basics of slide guitar, including what tunings I've used. Good luck! :)

Hey there Igor. I'm using Open G tuning for this lesson. The tunings from the bottom string (lowest sounding string) are D G D G B D. Thanks and good luck! Dan.

@lorehal Good question! :) I usually tune by ear, but if your not into that you can use an electronic tuner, just make sure it is Chromatic, or it won't tune alternate tunings. Good luck. Dan NZ
