The voice actor for Sutekh is Gabriel Woolf, the original voice actor, who is 91 AND voiced the Beast in Impossible Planet/Satan Pit!!!

I also liked how the CCTV was 66 meters away.... or 73 yards. 😮
  • @HomoSolari
They name dropped the Trickster from the Sarah Jane Adventures and the Mara from Classic Who as one of the gods, which was really cool.
  • RTD has been planning this twist (no pun intended) since the very beginning of the 60th specials. Mel asks Donna if she knows Triad programming when they visit UNIT in the Giggle, which I thought was just a weird computer term. Until I saw it mentioned in this episode...

Credit to the creative team, they gave Sutekh/Gabriel the powerful return he demands, while offering Mel/Bonnie a character with far more impact than much of her original run with the show.... so happy for both actors in this episode.

Kneel before the might of Sutekh. Also it's great to hear the return of Gabriel Woolf's voice.

Sutekh was in a Classic Doctor Who story called, 'The Pyramids of Mars', when Tom Baker was the Doctor. Sutekh said, "I am known and feared on a thousand worlds. I destroyed my home planet, Phaester Osiris, and crossed the galaxy, leaving havoc in my wake. Until my brother Horus and 740 other Osirians confronted me on Earth. I was defeated and trapped in a tomb beneath a pyramid; alive, paralysed, held in a force field controlled from Mars."

Unit: Well obviously S Triad is Tardis! Duh! Also Unit: Hires someone called H. Arbinger. 🤣

Doctor: "What's their name?" Kate: "Hugh. You met him" Doctor: "Yeah, I know, but what's his full name?" Kate: "Hugh. Hugh Jass!" [Dramatic orchestral swell]

If you can, I recommend trying to watch Pyramids of Mars before the next episode. It's only four 25 minute episodes and is regarding as one of the great stories.

There was so much just in this episode that I found refreshing: The Doctor being more open about his past, companions not being jealous of each other, the Doctor being proactive and asking for help.

"I lost my family to the most terrible things." Mel never had a proper introduction. We met her after she had already met the Doctor.

RTD was so hinting throughout the season.... in pyramids of mars where sutekh originated from the doctor showed sarah jane a destroyed earth like the doctor did now in episode 2. the sound the tardis makes was also made when sutekh materialised in the tardis in pyramid of mars. in every episodes there were pyramids hidden and and and :D Apart from that. Sutekh is considered as one of the most powerful DW villains of all time. He could easily have killed the doctor in pyramids of mars. he brought him to his knees easily.
  • Now, the question has to be, should Kat and Paula watch The Pyramids Of Mars before this season's finale? . . . . It'd be a chance to see Tom Baker and Elisabeth Sladen in a well regarded classic adventure and give some context to this two parter. Whaddaya think?

I can't help but chuckle that Unit were all over S. Triad as an obvious anagram, but somehow missed H. Arbinger. Unit HR really dropped the ball on that one.
  • Sutekh is my favorite Doctor Who villain of all time. I watched the Pyramids of Mars serial when I was 8 years old, and I waited throughout all of Classic Who and every single season of nuWho for them to bring THIS guy back. 43 years I've waited for Sutkeh's return!!!!! He's not the One Who Waits. I am! :O

There is a breadcrumb that's likely to explode in all of this. When Maestro had Ruby up in the air and was drawing out her music, Ruby invoked the Shepherd's Bell Carole, that frightened Maestro. "HE couldn't have been there. The oldest one." Betcha The Oldest One was there and imbued Ruby with the power to defeat Suteck for just this situation. :》

There's also that Sutekh is a genuine mythological character, so even not knowing he's appeared in the show before in some form, he's still a big, scary Egyptian God of Death figure. Like if he'd announced himself as Hades or something. It wouldn't really matter if Hades had already featured in the show or not.

The Doctor is the Oncoming Storm that's one of the many names given to the Doctor.
