  • When you were young and these bunch of (classic now) rock bands were coming out, you tend to like one than the other and think that they're in competition with each other. And now that you're older, your favorite bands are criscrossing and crossover to and play with each other and you lose count how many of them have played with one another.

Awesome to see Tommy jamming with cheap trick. He is one hell of a singer / guitar player. The stories that these guys could share from touring over the years.

Tommy Shaw is just so damn cool. Good show guys.
  • Cheap Trick and Tommy Shaw of Styx. Two of the Midwest's greatest bands ever. Shoot, America.

Went to a Kiss concert in Oct '75 and Styx opened for them. Styx came on and I looked at my friend and said "who's the kid on stage playing guitar?" Tommy had just joined the band. I know the official records say he joined Styx in December of that year, but he was there with them in that Oct show. Great musician!!

I am certain that Tommy owns all of Cheap Trick’s albums and was absolutely thrilled to be up there with them. Great vid, cheers.

I heard Tommy getting interviewed on W.R.I.F radio in Detroit. They took questions and some women asked him how he hits the high notes still. He answered " Thong underwear 2 sizes too small" I laughed the whole night thinking of that

I saw them set up in a grocery store parking lot in Allegan, MI for Bridgefest around 2001, an epic heavy show.
  • I was there ! Thanks for sharing this. I love sit-ins from other bands !

My first non parent concert was KISS, opened by Cheap Trick. Oddly enough, Trick split the tour with Styx. That was 1977, same summer as Star Wars and Frampton Comes Alive owned the airwaves.
