Judging from how in some stories, the dead don’t want to be seen and don’t want to impart all secrets to the living. In at least Native American legends, there are things called soul eaters and I would prefer to think those things don’t exist or if they do, things like salt and iron keep them away.

They should have brought more guns down there and added a much larger and stronger door to the control room.
