The V-Wing starfighter was the Republic Navy's answer to the nimble Tri-Droid Fighter, and the droid starfighters in general. Replacing the V-19 Torrent, and going on to be the main starfighter of the Empire, being a bridge to the TIE Fighter. This complete breakdown of the Alpha-3 Nimbus-class V-wing starfighter will use models from Battlefront 2, the cross-sections and other Star Wars ship and vehicles sources.

The V-wing is probably the coolest looking republic ship, always thought it looked like a wolf head too
  • @KushSalad
The droid tri-fighter is still an absolute monster.

6:48 this is what I miss the most in the new movies. The tech progression of the Star Wars universe.
  • Always loved the evolution of the minimalist design of the V wing and its transitional design aspects showing the evolution from jedi starfighter to empire superiority fighter with its cutting costs on life support and other options. Personally I would've loved to see more of this ship in action and I'm glad we saw more in The Bad Batch and perhaps we'll see a Mark 2 some day.

There is something with republic ships that even flying them in EA BF II feels fun. Unlike flying anything from the galactic civil "War"

I find it really cool how the republic used different types of fighters. The V-19 kinda feels like the F-16 of republic fighters. Mass produced and super nimble, but smaller and not as survivable.
  • It’s cool how bad batch uses them from a distance to foreshadow the tie fighter

You brought up an excellent point I never considered beforehand, after years of fighting the droids, it seems, in more ways than 1, that The Republic & later The Empire gradually began adopting many of the tactics that were being used against them by the droids, including starfighter swarms and large amounts of relatively disposable infantry. It just makes me realize that the Empire was not only geared up for a war it wasn't fighting, (capital ship to capital ship for example), but geared up to fight a war it had already won.

One of the most underrated underused republic era ships and my personal favorite fighter ever

It’s really nice to be able to start watching ship vids again since I’m still procrastinating finishing Andor. Great work as always!
  • Funny thing, in starfox assault. The arwings fuselage was similarly shaped as the v wing. Nintendo would make a fighter for the space battle over corneria using the arwings fuselage but with wings similarly shaped as the v wing. It looked very much like v wing.

NerdZ, in case you make a video in the future a new updated video of the Venator-class Star Destroyer, as you did of the V-wing It would be interesting if you calculate the size and space of the Venator hangar by calculating its square meters, similar to your Gladiator-class video.
  • The V-Wing for me is basically a "what would happen" when you use the design of the RZ-1 A-Wing, & the Mass Production of the Tie Fighter, & mix it together.

0:57 nice catch. I wish they had been shown more prominently in the battle of Courscant at the start of Revenge of the Sith.

These are my favorite starfighters in Star Wars Battlefront 2, along with the Droid Tri-Fighter

The Besh variant from the miniature game is to represent the bomber from BF2. I think the only source that gives them missiles is the FFG/Edge RPG.
