Sciatica Won't Get Better Unless You First Fix These 2 Problems

Published 2023-06-20
Sciatica stays much longer than it should because of 2 problems that rarely get fixed. And most healthcare professionals won’t know to tell you to fix these 2 problems.

If these 2 problems don’t get better, then any other treatment you do will only give you short-term relief. Getting long-term relief requires fixing these 2 muscle imbalances so that you can have long-term pain relief from sciatica.

These muscle imbalances are foundational to body movement and stability. Without correcting them, there’s a very slim chance that sciatica will go away for good.

In this video, Dr. David explains why sciatica won’t get better unless you first fix 2 foundational problems.

  • Dude. I’m a physical therapist. I have sciatica from a yoga injury 7 months ago and have watched lots of videos to get myself better (yes I know what to do but I also DONT know what to do). It’s a complicated injury to say the least…lots of stuff wasn’t working. This video is sooooo good for patient education. The best I have seen and heard. Nice job!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
  • @devious141
Man, no stupid stretches, that actually aggravates the problem more, but flex and hold exercises that actually help, strengthen and relieve the pain thank you 🙏🏾
  • @nildaweiss4287
I just found you. Thank God I did because I’m in constant pain. Your explanation is fantastic. I’ve gone to many doctors that don’t bother to explain anything close to what you did in this video. So grateful. 🙏
  • @bluwtrgypsy
Fantastic. This is like having a free appointment with this wonderful man. Thank you. Blessings
  • You are the first doctor/physical therapist who really explains sciatic nerve problems & the proper way to engage muscles so proper healing can occur.
  • 15 YRS countless rehab, 3 surgeries... I've never heard this explained this way. Thank you
  • Thanks. I did those seated glute exercise for only 3-4 hrs. Maybe did 5 sets of 10 secs, did the stomach vacuums for my lower abs, and the pain literally stopped on the same day. There's a lot of truth to what you stated. I will get more active.
  • @Linusrox123
Like most sufferers, I have watched a jillion YouTube videos in my search for relief. Yours is the BEST explanation so I can wrap my mimd around the whole problem instead of just following orders and crossing my fingers. THANK YOU!
  • I did your glute and ab exercises and I think it is working....I am in terrible pain when I wake and can barely walk....I will continue with these that you suggested and pray sciatic problem disappears....thank you....

I've been following for help for a yr now. I can finally walk pain free! I've been suffering since 2014 !!! Finally a physiotherapist who not only explains what the problem is but teaches how to fix it!!! You have saved me from having a knee replacement ❤ thank you so much!!
  • 4 month sciatica, recurring shoulder impingement, and recurring cervical nerve aggravation person here - I can't thank you enough for this video. I've tried everything short of surgery for my issues and never really gave related muscle activation a chance, due to not really feeling said muscles. Something about your explanation in this video made me finally sit down and focus on activation (just at home in a chair/on the floor in the morning). For the glutes, I even wiggled my legs and hit them a little with my hands to make sure they were relaxed... after a day or so of trying, it finally happened, finally felt my glutes give a hard contraction without my legs lighting up. Glute bridges feel totally different now, ab exercises feel totally different, and I even translated this to lower trap activation to help my cervical issues. This is a Come to Jesus moment that everyone in a similar position needs to hear - strengthening exercises aren't going to help if you can't talk to the right muscle, so take the time to sit down and say hi until they say hi back. Just had my first day back at light barbell squats and I'm feeling even better than on my best days. Thank you again and again
  • @marytuozzo606
I have had 2 physical therapists and have been doing bridges and lower ab exercises for a few months. Neither explained proper form or why I was doing those exercises. Now I know I wasn't using proper activation of my glutes with my bridges or abs. Thank you so much for your clear explanation!
  • @va1445
I just went to the doctor last week for sciatic pain and all they did was give muscle relaxers (which were useless). Your video has been MUCH more helpful because this gives me the tools to actually make a difference. I can affirm that I have not been using my muscles properly so I'm sure these exercises will help. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
  • @mandamorris7934
Thank you for this. My sciatica has lost it's ever lovin mind suddenly and I can't even begin to even walk. I thought I'd broken my hip! Heard a pop exiting the vehicle and I've been in agony ever since. I lasted 4 days at home and ended up calling an ambulance, and after 3 days in the hospital, they couldn't find a single thing wrong. I'm in agony. No pain management at all... I absolutely can't sit or stand for more than 30 seconds, and now they want to do PT... and I'm game but once I move much it takes DAYS to recover enough. Earlier in the year I've had a number of surgeries (gall bladder and kidney) and have lost a significant amount of weight... and now this... I'm 66 and while I realize I'm too old for several things... being pain controlled and as comfortable as possible aren't two things I have ever fought with. End of the rope time... I don't sleep, can't eat and I'm fighting stage 4 kidney disease. I literally feel as if I'm losing my mind.
  • @paillette42
I'm in the midst of a very painful sciatica flareup, and happened upon your sciatica playlist. It is literally the most useful thing I've found in years on the subject. THANK YOU!
  • @Lvnaco
You are one of a kind! The best kind! I feel a huge relief just watching you explain. I know it will help me because NOBODY EVER told me this! Forever grateful…
  • I feel the same as your other comments. My doctors don't help but for the first time I feel something different in my left leg and even neuropathy in both. Thank you for making these videos.
