Inks Lake State Park | Awesome Texas Hill Country RV Camping

Join us this week as we explore one of the most popular state parks in Texas: incredible Inks Lake State Park in the beautiful Texas Hill Country.

Built on the 2nd of the Central Texas Highland Lakes, Inks Lake, and originally planned by the National Park Service to be constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), history had other plans for this park which finally opened to the public in 1950.

We'll share some of the history of Inks Lake State Park and show why this is a fantastic destination for hikers, bird watchers, and folks who love watercraft.

We'll also show you some of the RV campsites and other amenities within the park.

Located between Burnet and Marble Falls, Texas in the stunning Texas Hill Country, Inks Lake is a great place for a weekend getaway, Spring Break, vacation, family gathering or as a basecamp to explore the local small towns.

We can definitely see why Inks Lake State Park is so popular, it is absolutely one of our favorites so far.

🤠 Thanks For Watching!

We are Tom and Stacie Langland, known for 10 years as RV Texas Y'all.

We are Native Texans and Full-Time RVers who are all about exploring the Great State of Texas and America one campground at a time. We're on a mission to experience life, not just live it and we're bringing you along for the fun.

In 2018, we sold our house, our business and gave away just about everything we own to hit the road and see America. Our home is a 33' motorhome named Freedom. We installed an extreme solar and lithium battery setup so now we can camp just about anywhere with our dog (Star) and our cat (Astro).

Every day is a new adventure, so join us as we RV America Y'all.

Safe Travels and Happy Camping!

I gotta put this one on the HIT list. Thanks for educating us on such a beautiful State Park.
  • My husband and I have triplet daughters and a son. My son is 7 years older than his sisters. I love to camp and my husband doesn't. My son was in Scouts for a year and we family camped once and my son soon took his father's side that camping isn't fun. When my triplet daughters were 4 we joined the YMCA Adventure guides and I took them out camping once a month. One of these campouts was at Inks Lake and they LOVED it. I think this is a big reason at least 2 out of 3 will camp with me today. We were in a campsite with a large tree and they wanted to sleep in it like Catniss in The Hunger Games. They spent a lot of their awake hours up there; but I did get them to sleep in the tent at night. Inks lake is beautiful and we have had a lot of amazing times there. We were lucky to get a Water Only site last November and enjoyed it because of it's privacy so don't discount those as an option. We are stil tent\van camping with a Sparrow XL Rooftop tent on my Toyota Sienna to take my daughters out to all of these places. My daughters are now 16 turning 17 soon and still will go camping with me.

Inks Lake are is wonderful .... we worked at Bug Chief just down the road a few yrs ago
  • Absolutely an amazing State Park. We went in January right before a super hard freeze, managed to get out before it hit us. We actually have a reservation for June. Welcome to summer. Yikes. Super excited. Your trail information was great. We will definitely do those along with the paddle boats. Our grandkids will be joining us. Thanks for all the info. It was great!!!
  • @SFDearing1
A little trivia for ya...Inks Lake is the only constant level lake in the Highland Lakes chain...all the others vary in their levels with varying rain and lack of rain. Good coverage of the park!

  • Happy Easter to you both. Thanks for showing us the nature trails and the wide variety of things to see and do at Inks Lake State Park.🙂
  • Love that state park. We camped there a week one time, we LOVED it! My kids loved jumping off of those rocks but it terrified me. Happy Easter!
  • @cross9494
Thanks for the tour of the park!! Looks like a nice one!!
  • That's an awesome state park where you can go camping with your family I've been there
  • @loucatozzi7656
Inks Lake is about an hour from our house. This is one of our favorite state parks in the Central Texas area. Another park you might want to try for hiking is Colorado Bend State Park. It is an hour or more north of Inks Lake along the same river - the Colorado. There are many miles of hiking trails there.
  • @jangleluvsu
Native Texans here...Inks Lake is one of our absolute favorite parks we've been to!! We were just there staying in Burnet a week ago and there were TONS of Bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrushes everywhere. It was really beautiful down there. There is a lot to do in the surrounding area as well. Longhorn Cavern is also pretty amazing!! Love our BEAUTIFUL state! Thank y'all for sharing your adventures! <3
