Starting their {THE AND} session out with jokes quickly turns serious for Alycia (she/her) and Chuck (he/him). While the couple has been dating for some time and have a child together, the two know they want to support each other more than they currently are. Chuck wishes Alycia understood his love for her body and wishes she felt the same, while Alycia wants to help Chuck understand that when he is going through something that he is not alone.

As a viewer, you have to be mindful that you're not privy to the history the two persons share, and that there may be other factors beyond their relationship which impact how they show up to the space we see. So you don't want to speak out of turn. All that to say, I wish them the best and hope they each pursue and get what they truly desire in this life.

This may sound messed up, but pretty much the moment I hear somebody using past trauma as an excuse in their current relationship, especially if they've been together for years.. I pretty much feel like it's not going to work out

She wants him to say what she wants to hear If she took the jokes in and laughed them into making him comfortable in opening up. That's one step to fixing their communication I know this because at one point in my life, I was Her. I think they should consider therapy. They have a lot to say they aren't saying to each other

He seems uncomfortable opening up to her. I don't know if it's her or people in general, but I do know if she wants him to open up she's gotta be a bit softer. No judgment bc I used to be that way. It takes time and hopefully one day he'll get comfortable enough to speak his true feelings without deflecting with jokes.
