Selena’s Tell Me What IDK, the part about “I shouldn't believe in,the dreams that I'm dreamin' and " you say It won't be easy" make me think of boomer’s reaction:
1 Boomer when someone pick an art/music job: it is difficult you won’t get any money and not guarantee to success
2 Boomer when someone make an easy money by streaming, crypto, donation: no it is not real job
and their implication. Like they somehow have bias for stable high paying job and even saying soulless job like cashier is a ‘real, stable job’ but is it really as it look like? How many people going into med, law or tax school and make it big? one in a million. So both sides are equally inconsistent: there are no safe job to sustain yourself. And if you want to work as cashier forever why bother living?
first example are just jealous to youngster who pursue their dream, 2nd example are insecurity stem against people who don’t work as hard as they did but make more money (if hardwork always pay, truckers and miner labors would be millionaire)
Face it, they have problem if youngster don’t follow the way they work decades ago. Train is moving on, you will be left behind if you don’t catch on
