Fareed Zakaria | Age of Revolutions
Published 2024-04-09
Drawing from his new book, "Age of Revolutions: Progress and Backlash from 1600 to the Present," Zakaria explores how present-day revolutions in globalization, technology, identity, and geopolitics are reshaping our world. Despite the disruptions and anxieties these revolutions have caused, Zakaria offers a hopeful outlook, suggesting that wise action can revive the liberal international order and relegate populism to history's dustbin.
Don't miss this insightful conversation that combines intellectual range, historical insight, and a vision for a better future, as Zakaria reframes our understanding of the turbulent times we live in.

Good to see two intellectuals of Islamic background (one Syrian, one Indian) sitting and discussing worldly affairs at the forefront of humanity. I wish we could see that taking place at the Islamic world itself.

Both Mustafa and Fareed are gems in their respective fields and this should speak volumes about the importance of immigrants. Looking at the immigrants as the “other” isn’t gonna to be good for the West at a time of global challenges and rise of China

All I received was Great Britain would be the 51st state in the USA in terms of income per capital behind missssippi.

I was sharing some similar thoughts with a conservative friend, and he suggested that I speak to more people on the Right. We were having a discussion about the causes of Jan 6th. What would make patriotic Americans attack their own Capitol?

The Dutch certainly played a very important role, but don't forget the Scots in terms of changing political and social structures in relation to the industrial revolution, but, anyway, thanks for the great conversation .... :face-fuchsia-wide-eyes::face-blue-wide-eyes:

On the 2020 platform segment. I think the party died. Just I have been saying for a couple odd years now. They need to go the way of the Whigs.
-
I hope the Left listens to Fareed and course corrects

Sir .. U mentioned Swedish president, Denmark president and France’s ( future president ) with a connection to fascist parties, but they are democratically elected and it’s a response from people for problems they are suffering like extremism, terrorism, crime against women, radicalism and fanaticism.

Interesting topic... revolutions... social, political, and technological. There is a danger of prognosticating based on historical perceptions. We tend to read history with less than '20/20 vision.' We end up as one-eyed prophets when applying the same perspective looking ahead. Hindsight bias and overconfidence... are the peril of ideology.
