According to Carmen Reinhart, China's excessive lending to emerging and developing countries could lead to a protracted debt crisis in the Global South similar to the great debt crisis of the 1980s.
Carmen Reinhart is a Cuban-American economist and Professor at Harvard University's Kennedy School. She was Chief Economist of the World Bank from 2020 to 2022.
