Why did we create the word "lobbying" when "bribing" already existed?
  • @gweegoop7781
I was initially shocked when this story got virtually zero attention from major media sources. Then I saw a massive Exxon ad on the homepage for Politico and remembered that fossil fuels pay their bills too.
  • @zazanova7327
It was always funny to me how “lobbying” was described a good thing considered it is just a plain and simple form of corruption
  • @itstrbo
Love how he just asks himself questions then gives incriminating answers...I've never seen someone interrogate themself before
  • @hindigente
It is baffling that the US dares to call itself a democracy while decriminalizing lobbying.
  • "The earth is not dying, it is being killed, and those who are killing it have names and addresses."
  • @derekforde7164
These guys truly are criminally insane. They know for sure that we are heading off the cliff, taking all of us with them (including their own children), and they fight to make sure that nobody steps on the brakes.
  • @Silchwint
The world is in such a state that when a man declares his evil plainly, on record, he will face no consequences. There is so much we need to fix.
  • @Vinstradamus
"We may have boiled the planet alive, but for a very short period of time we created a lot of value for our shareholders!" - ExxonMobil, probably.
  • @MoonFrogg
it's crazy as a concept that denying a statement on twitter is the furthest degree that companies need to go to defend themselves against controversies.
  • @jhightower
I just stumbled onto your video. 6 MONTHS later. I've never heard of this story. The most heartbreaking part is they essentially say, "we own the senators" and then the conclusion is, "go write to your senator." We've already lost. I'm so heartbroken.
  • @SilverDragonJay
To the people who think "yeah, higher ups on the cooperate chain deserve more money because they're smart and well educated" I present: this entire video, thank you for your time.
  • “Did you aggressively fight back against the science?” “Yes” “Sorry, can I ask that you include the question in your answer, it’s so the audien….” “Did we aggressively fight back against the science? Yes”
  • @technicallyreal
They probably can't fire him - imagine what else he'll reveal to the world if they did that
  • @RedZeshinX
And who did Trump appoint to be the Secretary of State? Rex Tillerson, the literal CEO of ExxonMobil. No joke. 😐
  • @Mischievous_Moth
The fact that I'm only finding out about this two years later is... heartbreaking.
  • @pixxelwizzard
"Our infrastructure doesn't hold up under severe weather. Or mild weather. Or no weather." I laughed so hard there. XD
  • @eligoldman9200
So everything we assumed that was true about political lobbying corruption was true? Wow what a surprise.
  • @Zyphent
It's always interesting to see corporate shakedown so clearly laid out. People always look at it in terms of "this senator is getting checks from this corporation", but more often it's "this person is up for reelection and it's be a shame if their competitor had a lot more ads airing"
  • @istrumguitars
Exhibit A for why corporate lobbying of Congress needs to be outlawed – we can start at the state level by prohibiting our senators and house reps from accepting lobbying / dark money contributions.
