Please Don't Write Your College Essays Like This

Here are some pretty bad topics to write your college essay about. Not that there inherently bad per say, but they are very commonly written about, which makes it harder to stand out. You certainly can still have success with these topics, but you'll need to approach things from a unique angle or perspective to let your personal voice really shine in your Common App.

i wrote mine about how my coffee order has fluctuated over the years and how long it took me to be able to get the perfect balance and how my order reflects on me. ….Got into every college I applied too lol

just so everyone knows… number 4 fluctuantes. there’s nothing wrong with writing about your relationship with other people, but be sure the majority of the essay still focuses on you.

my college essay was about how rap music grew me as a writer and person and i hid the names of every song from kendrick lamar’s “DAMN.” in the essay. now im an english major with a minor in music lol

My college essay was about the limit of sin(1/x) approaching zero and how the fact it crosses an infinite amount of times whilst oscillating between 1 and -1 reminded me about how live has ups and downs and yet goes on.

Can you write about anything? As long as it’s not cliche? I’m thinking of writing mine on my love for chocolate cinnamon rolls, but I think it would be to short. Also what’s the ideal length/ topics for entry essay?

Damn #3 was my college application essay. To be fair I got accepted into most of the T-20 schools. However, I do focus on a specific portion and I am very good at evoking emotions since I have a strong vocab for imagery
