  • Robin snapping spandams spine in half will forever be one of my favorite one piece scenes of all time
  • How the hell did Spandam even survive robin's attack ? He never striked me as someone that durable .

    "Spandam is not stupid." Spandam:

On Spandam falling flat: to me that always felt deliberate - Spandam’s real capabilities as a Villain stem from his abilities in investigation and preparation; him figuring out the blueprints were on Water Seven, figuring out the best possible subordinates he could obtain, finding the right connections to get the devil fruits, etc. But by that point in the arc, all his preparations had fallen apart. He had no more substance, no more threat, beyond the one thing: that Robin’s friends would fail and he’d get her onto a ship and away from Ennies Lobby. That was the only thing he had left to try and break Robin’s spirit after it had been raised by the rest of the crew, and he needed her spirit broken to more easily force her to do what the WG wanted. He fell flat because he’d run out of preparations for this stage of his plan, because the Straw Hats were blazing through everything in their way, in short (in my opinion, to be clear)
  • I really appreciate your upload schedule. So many nights, I knock off from a long shift in a hot kitchen, just to get home and welcomed by your enthusiastic insight into my favourite fictional pirate story. Might sound stupid, but it helps get me through some of the worse days. I know it is your job, but it is something that keeps some joy in my life, so thanks, mate.

It should be noted that Mick Foley is also the kindest and purest soul in the world and he was totally chill about the "gimmick infringement" thing with his mask

Spandam: I have an army, infuence, and power! Though I may not be strong, I have a Buster Call! Luffy: I have people who want revenge :)

Spandam got under my skin almost immediately. I think what makes him so great as a villain is that he is one of the most realistic. People like Spandam seem to exist in abundance, so that mix of smugness, weakness and sadistic abuse of power easily strikes a nerve in the reader. I would argue that Spandam practices Corrupt/Mad Justice though. Akainu has some semblance of a moral code and rules that he follows, whereas justice for Spandam is defined by whatever stands in the way of what serves his ascent to power and influence
  • Spandam feels to me like they combined Joffrey's sadism and cowardice with the Penguin's scheming and comedy.

So early I didn't even get a preroll ad

My real problem with spandams end is that he was able to walk. I know Robin's attack on him was supposed to be somewhat comedic, but we actually see his spine snapped. I really think him being paralyzed would have been a more fitting punishment.
  • ...I was listening to this on the background, drinking some lovely coffee, when Liam said Spandam was sucked off by his elephant. I was unprepared for this, and now have to clean that coffee off the floor. I hold you responsible, man on the internet. That was some good coffee.
  • @SoulKrosis
I had to double take so hard because i read the title as "Why Shadman is the mot dangerous villain in one piece." 😅
  • Now that we know Spandine was working in the underworld, could he be the connections where Spandam got the fruits?
  • The fact that Spandam got to CP0 is baffling to me. This man called a BUSTER CALL on a MARINE BASE... on accident. And there were marines that knew that, and I'm sure that they survived the buster call, how did this man manage to get into CP0? Also how did not get to a wheelchair with Robin's clutch?
  • I'm amazed that Spandam is still alive even after Robin specifically snapped his spine in half brutally. He should have perished already.
  • Ah yes, the vile little Nepo Baby. Hes actually one of my favorite villains 😅. I actually find seeing him constantly brutalized to be so much more satisfying than the Saint Charlos punch. He brings out the sadist in me, hes such a nasty, greasy little sh- slime ball that seeing him get hurt brings me immense joy.

I am still floored on how much power Spandam's father Spandine has. He can apparently promote people to CP-0 and remember those agents have to directly serve the World Nobles if they wish which is how Spandam is even in CP-0 to begin with despite the Enies Lobby incident being his fault.
