I am 72 yrs old and have lived in Florida for 40 yrs. 15 years on the beach, 15 years on the golf course and for the past 10 years have lived in a semi rural area. It has been a wonderful life. Now 10,000 houses have been built around us and the traffic is congested.

I've lived in Florida for over 40 years. Stay away. Especially if you're from California or New York. Spiders, snake, alligators and giant flying cockroaches.

He's right, everyone should move out of Florida ASAP!! I'll stay behind to warn everyone.

My dad was born and raised in Palm Beach he is a 5th generation Floridian. He was fed up with taxes and the people, sold the house and moved us out of Florida.

Property tax is a true crime. The Government is the greediest landlord.

I am turning 60 and have replaced my shingle roofs all the time. I have a one-story, so all I need is a ladder, my compressor with gun and staples, or just plain roof nails, and roof materials. I lop down branches hanging over my trees. I fix all of our vehicles. I replaced my own handler and heat pump twice. I fix every single plumbing problem. Am I a genius? No. But I know how to watch You Tube videos and have worked in contruction before. It is NOT rocket science. The reroofing is incredibly easy.
  • Middle class guy here. Tracked expenses down to a penny for 2023. The government got 61% of my money with taxes, from sales to property to Dmv, state taxes to, social taxes and others. 😂 how sad.

Hubby and I are old Florida natives. He actually is a home builder. What we did was purchased raw land with lots of oak trees and a water source, built our home, which is exactly what I asked him for, is basically a shotgun house. The entire cost of our house was 7,800. (It cost us 200 more than the house to put in water, but we made sure of two things. One, the well hits the aquifer. Two, it's got a hand pump included for when the power goes out. I can actually pump water into our house, the summer kitchen and the guest cabin, from the well.) We have no reason to purchase insurance because if something took out our entire house, we can just rebuild it. It costs less to replace our house then it does to pay for property insurance for three months. The people who are moving in are obviously spendthrifts. They won't be able to keep the property that they have purchased and as soon as a big bad hurricane comes, most of them are out anyway. Florida wins!

Where people are loosing sight is that insurance companies are not in the business to hand out money, they are in the business to take from their insured.

Sold my house, moved back to Puerto Rico. Yes, there are storms, but house is cement and no insurance. Low property tax and lower costs overall. It's not perfect, but what is?

I’m a FL native and most of my family still live here. Where I live (west of Orlando) our city and county are booming. I don’t necessarily like all the changes that come with it but things change. I’ve read people online afraid of FL (gators everywhere, hurricanes, lightning, sharks, etc)…that’s good; stay away. Almost everywhere has bad traffic and if it doesn’t now, wait 10-20 years (that’s how long it took us here). To each their own.

We moved to Florida in 2019. Moved out in 2023 and boy, what a smart move! Our mover told us in late 2023 that things have reversed and that 8 out of every 10 moves are people leaving the state. We were glad to be part of that statistic.
  • @timmartin723
Don't move to places that everybody is moving too. The roads, schools, and infrastructure cannot keep up. Home prices will go up so will your taxes.

My mother in law who's in Florida, probably several years ago, just dropped insurance all together. I thought she was nuts when she first did it, but given the fact she's been in her house for well over thirty five years and has "weathered" many a storm and several major hurricanes (none were directly in line with her home) and hearing the ridiculous premiums ..... I don't blame her for rolling the dice. I really don't. This is basically an advertisement for North Carolina.

Moved to Florida in 1986 and bought a home in Pasco county in 1992. You neglected to say Florida has a homestead expemption for property tax. Still, I saw the writing on the wall 15 years ago and sold last summer. Glad I did, 3400 new homes are being constructed down the street from me. I believe the biggest challenge will be securing fresh water for all these new people. We still have seasonal droughts and the price of treated water is astronomical.
  • @JimmyFloridatube
Rural north Florida where I live is the real Florida and let me tell you, we don't pay what you people in South Florida are paying for anything. I bought one and a half acres and bought a nice used mobile home near the springs for less that seventy five thousand. You people paying that south Florida prices have more money than you need. North Florida is way better than South Carolina, but don't tell anybody. You can thank me later.

Heat, humidity, traffic, crime, crazy drivers, poor housing stock, entitled people, etc
  • @stevensims3342
The amount of money people are paying for their houses in annual taxes is insane.
  • @sue9550
I've lived in Florida for almost 30 years and you really hit the nail on the head with everything you said about how Florida has changed! Great video
